Something to think about when this mod gets released

Recommended Posts

The map, now i have to admit the map is LARGE, For now

The map is 140 MILES long, Thats pretty big....

But this mod is gaining popularity, later a new map needs to be made, And atleast double the size as this

Because.... just imagine, There is about 5-15 people in Chero/Electro in most servers

When this mod gets even more popular... i would say about 20-30 people

And loots will be down to 0

It'll be fine.

=)

That's realistic.

More survivors, less to work with.

Survival of the fittest.

It may force grouping... may increase bandits...

But nothing is known until it happens. =)

It's not 140 miles long :D that would be quite large map :)

A 225 km2 open world post-soviet state

It's square kilometers that means it's 15km x 15km....

140 miles?? did you fail math?

It is 15km long and 15km wide, which is 9.3x9.3 miles

225km2 = 86~miles2

Anyone remember how big WoW was when it was first available to the public?

Bigger maps are coming for standalone, I can almost guarantee it

What map are you in? It's 225km2, which puts it at about 15x15km. A km is just over a half a mile, meaning it's like 8x8 miles...

This was already discussed in one of Rocket's interviews if I remember correctly.

See, the game is currently a mod, which causes issues with creating new maps for DayZ individually. However, Rocket has said that he has plans to release DayZ as a standalone game. Which would mean that ArmA2 would no longer be needed to play DayZ. This would mean that Rocket would be free to develop the game how he sees fit.

With that in mind, think about how the maps will be designed. Rocket had said that he wanted to fit something like 150 players per server, with a much larger map, more loot spawns, and a revamped loot spawning system. None of this is for sure, but these are things that are currently being thought about.
