NW airfield firehouse

Just did a risky NW airfield loot run by myself and I came across a potentially fatal situation. When you go up into the firehouse up the stairs, you also have the option to climb a ladder (which is outside of the stairwell on the outside of the building). I had no problem with this, until I realized there's no way back into the firehouse and that the only way down will be either death, or sure broken bones and being knocked unconscious. Am I missing an exit?

There is a ladder

There is a ladder on the side of the building to get down. Just look around the edge of the firehouse for it.
