Hacker or Admin?

Hi, I am relatively new to DayZ and was wondering if this was a hacker or admin.

So two days ago me and my friend were moving down a large hill, all we had were Makarovs, suddenly my friend shouts out that there is a guy behind us. I turn round to see a silhouette stood on a rock further up the hill, wearing a ghillie suit and toting a sniper rifle. Before we had time to react he had taken a shot and missed, we both open fired into the darkness in seer panic and then my friend got a murder. We waited to see if there was anyone else with him before climbing back up the hill to the body, we were over joyed to find an SVD camo, GPS, a map, range finders, night vision goggles and more. We quickly moved away from the body, as I pointed out it is likely he worked with someone to get this gear.

After a few minutes of playing with our new toys, our inventories were wiped and legs were broken. Then the person we had killed appeared besides us, using all types of language in the chat. I asked him why he had wiped our gear, he replied saying we murdered him for no reason and that wasn't fair. Although he had taken the first shot on two poorly equipped survivors I knew he would deny it, so instead of challenging him I played along and said it was an awkward situation for us (having a sniper breathing down our necks in the darkness) so we reacted thinking he would attack us.

After much deliberation I had finally got him on side, our legs were fixed up and blood restored. But there was one problem, we still had no gear. I asked him what about our gear, to which he replied "I didn't know what you had". Thinking we weren't getting anything back we were about to go on our merry way, but then he spawned gear into my inventory. AS50 w/ thermal, night vision, range finders, an M1911, a ghillie suit, food and drink and tons of ammo. I was thankful towards him and then me and my friend headed off, going to a different direct to the other guy.

We believed him to be an admin, who was butt hurt over being killed by a Makarov but then turned out to be okay once we spoke to him. But I was recently told admins can't spawn items, so he must of been a hacker, is this right?

Also if he is a hacker can I get in trouble for having these spawned items?

Any help is appreciated, and thanks for reading.

Admins can't just spawn stuff in.

He was a hacker, maybe an admin too.

No, you won't get in trouble.

Thanks for clearing that up, I just found out the thermal AS50 isn't even in DayZ so I'm going to get rid of it next time I'm on.

At first all the "cheaters" did was spawn vehicles and weapons to kill everyone.

Then the thunderdome appeared a few days ago.

Now just about every "cheater" I come across will spawn to my location call me by name on VOIP chat and say they just want to see what gear I have. Then they will fill my inventory with missing weapon mags and disappear.
