Kill Player Shooting Me, Get "1 Bandit Kill", But I Turned In To A Bandit?

So I was trying to ask a player if he was friendly before he spun around and shot me in the face.

Laying on the ground shivering with my legs broken I managed to squeeze off enough shots to his head to end his misery before getting up and fixing my wounds with 6000 blood left.

Obviously this was in self defense (and my "Bandits Killed" ticked up to 1, my "Murders" remained at 0) yet my guy then became a bandit and my humanity icon turned angry looking...

Is this a bug?

Possibly, it's also possible he was a survivor when he shot you, and by shooting you (but not killing) that he became a bandit in the middle of the firefight. Maybe the game doesn't handle it too well.

Either way, it will be resolved in the next major update, when rocket removes the whole "turning into a bandit" concept.

If he had a bandit skin, then he may have had positive humanity. Killing a bandit skin that has 1-2499 humanity could make you one.

If you lost humanity out of self defence, then I dunno.

He didn't have a bandit skin but he shot me down to 6000 health and it counted as a "bandit kill" rather than a "murder".

ALPHA and all... but what Krisko said make perfect sense. He probably was on the edge to turn when you killed him. But yeah, anyther reason why the humanity is flawed, you should turn bandit when -0 not above it... otherwise it take humanity off your stats while the guy is a bandit anyway.
