FPS Lag since installing external HDD?

Recommended Posts

Bought a new Internal 1TB HDD (for data) yesterday with a high write/read speed specifically to record fraps files so it greatly reduces my FPS lag.

Since installing this drive I went onto a server last night and seemed to get 20-30 fps which is very laggy for my system, (GTX 580 + I7 960, 8GB RAM) I normally get 60 + but somehow it seemed laggy. I swapped server and then I got about 40-50 FPS which seemed a lot smoother but it still wasn't as good as it used to be, My game used to run flawlessly smooth, whenever i'd spin the camera round that would look smooth aswell, now when i seem to turn my mouse around it seems to lag a slight bit and it's annoying me. This is without fraps recording.

So do you have an external or internal HDD?

if its an external HDD then I can understand the lag but if its a internal I can only imagine its down to the server.

It's internal, but i'm using it as a data drive. not for my OS.

It was an american server and i'm from Europe. BUT 2 of my friends were on the same server and they weren't getting the lag I was getting. Also I never knew higher ping would effect your FPS? Most games high ping just makes you warp everywhere etc.
