"Arma 2 OA has stopped working"

Recommended Posts

So I've been unable to get dayz to work for the past 2 days. When trying to join a server, I'll open SixLauncher, select a server and hit join. Then Arma begins to load and after about 5-6 seconds, it quits and says "Arma 2 OA has stopped working". Note: I have been able to play dayz on this computer before, it only stopped working recently.

I've tried opening Arma 2 OA from steam, it gives me the same "Arma 2 OA has stopped working" message. Arma 2, on the other hand, does work when launched from steam. I've also tried going to properties, and doing that verify integrity of game cache, and it always ends up saying "1 file failed to validate and will be reaquired". Then immediately a file is downloaded, but this changes nothing. If I verify integrity of game cache again I get the same message and the same instant download.

I've also tried manually installing the latest beta patches for OA, and occasionally it will say something about a bad serial key, and sometimes it will work. Still doesn't make dayz work. I've tried doing into SixUpdater and finding dayz and right clicking to "verify and repair mods". Doesn't seem to change anything. Note: in SixUpdater when i go into the mods tab and find dayz it says "incompatible" in the status section. Although, yesterday it said something different and dayz still didn't work, so i dunno.

Anyways, any help would be greatly appreciated, as I am eager to get back to playing, and I am out of ideas on how to get this to work.

So instead of trying to launch to the SixUpdater GUI, I opened ArmA2:OA through Steam, made the DayZ mod load first and then it worked fine...

FYI.
