It all will come to this

Recommended Posts

Hi guys

I'm a new player of DayZ and I'm having a blast playing it, and in the latest steam summer sale I bought 2 copies of ArmA 2 CO for my brothers

But my history with arma2 is not new, I had OFP back in 2001 and registered an account in the BI Forums, since then I've been checking out other games/simulators and coming back for the arma and arma2 releases.

Those other sims and games include:

IL-2 1946

Rise of Flight

Cliffs of Dover

APB Reloaded

Global Agenda

GTA IV

Saints Row: the Third

Oblivion

Skyrim

Fallout 3

Fallou New Vegas

Mount & Blade: Warband

Neverwinter Nights series

just to mention a few...you get the idea

Over those years of being active in their communities I always wondered:

Why doesn't Oleg Maddox (IL-2) get together with Marek Spanel (OFP/arma) and make the ultimate milsim, with the infantry and choper simulation of arma series and the flight models of IL-2?

Why doesn't Todd Howard (skyrim/oblivion) get together with Armağan Yavuz (m&b/warband) and implement directional melee combat to the TES Series?

Why doesn't Armağan Yavuz (m&b/warband) get the APB Reloaded Character creator and implement it on Mount and Blade 2?

So it all will come to this:

With War Z, most purists of DayZ get mad it is even mentioned because of the free press, and other players just don't get upset at all and claim it'll fail or that is WoW with zombies

I think DayZ will be superior in all aspects but one, "CHARACTER CUSTOMIZATION", I know for sure, Hall is working for BI Interactive and DayZ is either go out as Stand Alone using Arma3 engine or come out as a DLC of arma3, but thing is, would rocket like to loose all the potential clients to some sort of WoW MMO?

All I'm asking is that DayZ would have a Character customization like APB, or at least Global agenda or Saints Row: The Third, because that's what sells

what do you guys think?

You can change the appearance of your character by choosing different faces in the game options. You also have the option of changing your character's gender, but this option only appears once, and if you decide to change it, you cannot change back, even if you create a new profile.

There is customisation. In the arma 2 profile page (options) you can costomise skin, hair, voice etc. and in DayZ you can change skin (ghillies etc.). I fail to see how you could add more in a shooter-style game.

It's not going to be easy in the current engine.

We may expect more customization in the standalone version

EDIT: And by customizations you mean skill system right?

And by customizations you mean skill system right?

As I just said: You can change the appearance of your character by choosing different faces in the game options. No one was talking about skill systems :D Edited by Teo

hmm but we can even have Predator in ArmA2

http://www.armaholic...ge.php?id=12695

And when you check the known issues:

- Weapon holding positions and animations are still a bit off

- Several Arma2.rpt errors still come up

- Running predators are warping occasionally

- MP functionality not 100 % guaranteed, some things are spawned twice (Discs etc.)

- and many many more ...

I don't think we'll lose players due to customization alone. Call me crazy, but I think good gameplay (not that WarZ won't have this, no way to tell yet) is more important than whether you can change the color of your hat.

On that note, I would like to see rocket improve customization in future iterations of DayZ. Even if it's simple things, like the color/design of the starter gear and nothing else. It would help us identify one another more readily. You could still have all of the camo/Ghillie skins you want, but 'civilian clothing' would reduce you back to the design you originally chose. I know it won't happen anytime soon, but it would be nice.

Oh no guys, don't get me wrong, I know you can choose your gender and faces in the profile editor, but I'm talking more about morphs, nose, texture, hairstyle all those things that new games came with vanilla version

Clothings, estature, build, voice sets, etc.

you can check the APB reloaded character creator or the EVE Online one, heck even Global Agenda made good characters, there's also Skyrim and Saints Row 3 to name a few

I don't know If I'm explaining it well, I'm talking about appareance not skills just cosmetic attributes, regards

EDIT: I know it is not mandatory to have different models or builds, clothing, etc. but just take notice of the examples I listed, APB got a lot of hype because the character customization alone, skyrim and other games alike are plagued with custom races and body modifications..

All I'm saying is, War Z is going to have at the very least the same character customisation as War Inc. and that's something to think about, all I want is that people at BI or rocket himself take note of what could be another plus to increase sales
