Terrible FPS, need system specific help!

Recommended Posts

After scourging the forums for tips and tricks on how to boost my FPS I have failed to see any noticeable improvements. I have tried running the beta version on beta servers, I've tried tweaking the config files and all of that jazz, and I've tried changing my nvidia settings to those recommended by others. The only thing that seemed to help was the config file tweaks and the improvement only lasted for a few hours. I thought that maybe the game had altered the file again back to its default settings, but the changes were still present.

On average I get around 9-16 fps. When it gets below 10 I just call it quits. On good days, when I join a server that has recently restarted I can get in the low 20's, sometimes a little higher. I never see anything above 30, not even when looking directly towards the sky standing still. For a while I thought this was normal. Then I started watching videos of others and realized how terrible my fps was compared to the fps of others who were also recording video.

System Specs:

Computer: Alienware M14x R1

OS: Windows Home Premium 64-bit

RAM: 8.00 GB

Processor: Intel Core i7-2630QM CPU @ 2.00GHz

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M

If I can give you anymore information please let me know and I will be more than glad to.

You sir are both a gentleman and a scholar. I'll let you know how it goes.

UPDATE

I tried the above fix, and was met with the problem of not being able to identify DayZ in Six Updater. So, I instead ran it through Six Launcher and in the options menu changed the mod path to that of the new partition I had created and put the mod folder into (F:). I then launched the game from there and noticed a slight FPS increase. It jumped around from lows of 19 to highs in the upper 20's. I could have done this wrong somehow and the slight FPS increase be due to a recent server restart, or it could be a little better from using RAMdisk, I'm not sure. What I did notice was that while I was on the "Loading" screen my FPS was around 140. That was pretty neat :D

Thanks for that! Trying it out atm and so far a slight increase in FPS (CPU bottlenecking so I didnt expect much) but definitely less stuttering! Hope you don't mind me passing this info and vid link on to others needing help. Cheers
