rookkii 2 Posted July 31, 2012 ok so i dont mean to start a thread that everyone already knows but i need to vent some of my frustrations with this game at the moment.the loading times at login are getting out of hand. i dont know what the process is that has to be loaded or what kind of communication has to occur between the client, server and hive but it is overwhelmingly bad. everyone always jokes that dayz is a mix between a running simulator and a loading game but for fucks sake this is rediculous.not only does it take forever to load on initial login...which i can understand taking a bit of time but when you die and have to restart it should be a very quick process...you should have some chance of getting back to your body and trying to kill the person that killed you and recovering some of your gear so long as you have some luck in your spawn location...but with a 20 min load and freezing on "LOADING" every FUCKING time you have no chance.again im sorry for posting what everyone already knows but i figure the more the dev team sees people having issues with this they might start to take notice and try to resolve these issues.

Naka (DayZ) 4 Posted August 4, 2012 There's no need to get frustrated over loading times. Set your game to Windowed mode, add -noPause to the game's parameters and alt tab out while the game is loading. Enjoy some web browsing and keep an eye on ArmA in the background. VitaminK 6 Posted August 4, 2012 (edited) Instead of walking around the problem with the latest patch to prevent server hoppers/ dc'ing for respawn they seriously need to implement wiping of dead character data, I can guarantee 90% of the shit in the database is from that... Herb (DayZ) 121 Posted August 4, 2012 ...you should have some chance of getting back to your body and trying to kill the person that killed you and recovering some of your gearand why should you?
calthehunter 61 Posted August 4, 2012 (edited) If you really must go to a server that's already at 55 out of 60 people, yes you're going to see 10-15 minute load times. This might be because you have 55 other players to sync to. And just fyi, all evidence (95% full server) points to that server you're waiting to join 1) getting hacked or 2) crashing/restarting in Tminus... U.B.C.S. Ravin 326 Posted August 4, 2012 (edited) Our server uses an SSD.There is no load time. I don't notice a problem. Even with 40-50 players. Edited August 4, 2012 by U.B.C.S. Ravin

U.B.C.S. Ravin 326 Posted August 4, 2012 While that may help a LITTLE a big part of the problem is arma 2 is single threaded...A little?Loading time for most other servers, five - ten minutes, maybe longer.SSD takes roughly 1-2 minutes, MAYBE. FPS is great, responsive even with a full server. Six hour restarts also help clear up unneeded data and leaks. I experience almost no problems besides hackers, which I can't do much about.Seriously, invest a little into a SSD. You would be very surprised what it does for your server and the users on it.
eastonch@gmail.com 4 Posted August 5, 2012 While that may help a LITTLE a big part of the problem is arma 2 is single threaded...What does it matter that Arma2 is single threaded? SSD's are storage volumes... not cores? It would greatly help help the load speed, however it depends what the actual "method" of loading the game uses, weather it's bottlenecked from a bad hive server, or weather it's the server itself. with DISK IO. Enigma112 0 Posted August 15, 2012 I could really not agree more, I thought that the updates were supposed to improve the mod... I guess improve means something completely different to the DayZ developers however. I'm not sure about 1.7.2.5 because I have been unable to play, but who remembers the texture glitches from 1.7.2.4 it was the dead soldiers, I am 99% sure that they never NEVER tested the update before release. It's not like the texture glitches were able to be missed with ease it's a big fucking tear in the textures, like seriously you either did not test it or did not test it properly. Do you guys just think that hey I'm going to make an update that is worse then the previous version WOOOO. This game is really fucking frustrating, I don't even know why I bother but it's probably because I'm hoping that the idiots who run this mod will realize they fucked up and revert to a previous update or make something similar that worked for the game and had minor problems. You better hope that nothing similar to this mod come out DayZ development team because I can guarantee people are going to switch over because of the shit you people do.
