Installed DayZ on my laptop, game doesnt load

Recommended Posts

So I installed DayZ on my laptop today, but for some reason it isn't booting properly.

Installed ARMA2, ARMA2OA, ran both, installed SixUpdater (just like on my desktop).

Now that everything supposedly is in place, I tried to join the server that my friends were on to continue where I stopped yesterday (on my desktop).

I join the server, DayZ screen loads, recieving, waiting for character to create and then I get stuck at loading for some reason.

As of writing I already spent over 10minutes on the loading screen, while the other screens pretty much finished instantly.

Now admittingly, my laptop isn't exactly the best (far from) but I was able to play regular Arma2 OA without much trouble. I don't really know what is causing this & any help would be appreciated :|

Just wait a little bit longer or try another server.

I've been at the loading screen for 16minutes now.

When I loaded ARMA2OA missions to test if my pc could actually run the game, it loaded instantly.

The server works for sure since 3 of my friends are playing on it along with 20 other ppl.

Make sure you have Arma II OA 1.62 and 95389 beta patch installed. I bet your desktop is way more powerful than the laptop, and the resource hogging piece of shit game engine that arma uses is probably raping your poor laptop. Give it some more time and see what happens but make sure you have downloaded the 1.62 patch for OA

Yea it seems like it's related to the amount of ppl on the server.

I logged other servers w 5ppl just fine, the one my friends are on has 28players.

My poor laptop cant handle it :(

Solved

you might want to double check your armaII beta version. I know six launcher is supposed to take care of all this for you, but I know from experience it doesn't always do this properly. i had a friend last week have this very problem, and manually installing the latest beta patch for armaII got him out of this bad state.

you can tell the armaII patch you are on by loading dayz and just checking from that startup screen in the lower right
