On this character, I am 8 murders in and I'm enjoying "role playing" (I use the term loosely) the straight psycho. I spend a few hours finding all of the food, water and ammo I need.. I find one of my favorite coastal spots or grocery stores and I wait.

I never use bullets unless they have an 80+% chance of hitting and I rarely loot my victims (more due to fear of getting shot than lack of need, although I have little need)

I'm more the crazy nam vet in the woods who has been praying for the zombie apocalypse.

So, my side point is... we often use moralized terms to describe the way people play here. The victims of those being shot refer to the shooters as immature assholes and the shooters refer to their victims as naive noobs and thus the story goes.

I've responded to requests for help on the forum and given people all they needed to be healthy, including a gun, lee enfield,..and then turned my back and walked out.. With my nvgs and L85a2 visible.

You can trust people you meet through here, generally, but if you meet in the field of battle... it's always an unwise and losing proposition to "talk to strangers".

I don't personally have a problem with this. If I see someone else... I shoot, hide or leave. After the last guy I told to move along, rather than shoot him, ran at my back with an axe while I was fighting zombies... well, I refuse to trust anyone and I would submit that this is the way everyone should play.

This game encourages robust communities outside of itself where you can meet many friendly players, but no one should trust anyone they meet in Chernarus itself.

If I've killed you, I'm sorry :[ Except for the guy who had a toolkit. I needed that.

how do i know other people in town arent coming to investigate the shots?

i can kill animals for my food

i can fill up cantines at ponds

if i do ever need to go into a town ill drive up to it and make sure no zombies are spawned in.

only thing to do in this game is raise your kill counts, zombies do nothing and supplies are plentiful.

I agree with this and that's why I never loot a body. I don't want to lose my gear that I found on my own to someone with a lee enfield watching their friends corpse. And somewhat about the kill counts. But my favorite thing to do in this game is

resupply, survive and kill other players (which at least actually puts you at risk rather than hiding up north all day)

but to do all that WITH my friends. I love meeting new people to play this game with and I love working as a team.

I don't feel I'm playing in an inappropriate way, I love playing with buddies, doing all that I need to survive while also engaging in risky situations.

While I don't murder outright, the only social interaction I've had with other players lately is generally through the scope of a rifle.

I'm not a KoS kinda guy... Generally speaking - i'll observe contacts at range, but wont open fire unless

a) They have something I want / need

b )They have become a threat

c) I'm desperate. (medical supplies, food, drink, etc)

Recently, there was a player lying unconscious on the deck at Rogovo... I dragged him into a red building, bandaged his wounds, gave a blood transfusion, took what I needed from his backpack as payment, and left before he came to. He never pursued.

I work with friends in Day Z... and rarely trust others.

A few weeks ago I'd work with those I didn't know...Sometimes I made a friend, or was betrayed... My life-span was short in those days, but I didn't mind. More often than not, however I found the presence of another player tagging along to be a mild annoyance - especially when they're new... Firing off their Enfield in towns, etc.

You know what is funny. Before this game, I felt I would do well in a Post-Apoc. Not because I would want to survive but because it is irony of life. Now, with this sim (loose term) I know I will do better than the majority.
