Total blackness at night

Recommended Posts

I've been playing this game on and off for a while now, and I really prefer the night.

The problem that Im having though is that sometimes, it is pitch dark.

By this I mean I can only see the stars and treetops far in the distance, anything beneath it is just black. I cant even see my own feet.

Raising brightness and gamma doesnt do a thing. It just makes the stars brighter. Rejoining the server or changing servers sometimes works, but now after these last few patches I can't seem to play at night anymore at all.

Is this a bug or just server settings?

I think it is intentionally dark (not a bug) so that players won't "cheat" and turn up their brightness and gamma and get an advantage over the other players. However someone posted a guide on how to see during the night anyways. It seems that turning up your "HDR quality" to to "very high" does the trick.

I hope this answers your question.

It's still all dark.

This just doesnt seem right, why would they make the game unplayable at night?

Im gonna post a picture link just to be sure, if you got time, have a look at it, and see if its the same for you as for me.

This is with the HDR quality set to the highest, and im looking out over Elektro.

All you can see is a chimney, a crane and trees, the rest of the city is hidden in the blackness covering half the screen.

The game is playable if you use flares, flashlights or chemlights. It is however significantly harder.

I just gave the hdr-trick a go. It works, set in on "very high" and increase your "gamma" and "brightness".

Hope this helps.

Aww, alright. That really sucks, but atleast now I know it's not a glitch.
