Why are servers changing names?

I noticed in the last few days one of the servers we sometimes use seems to be changing names and messing about rolling back to 1.7.2.3

It started as DE 90 which we used on and off quite regularly i think it was run by blacky in the title but not sure, the admin was very slow at updating and never seemed to be around

Then it changed to De 88 on the 30th and seemed to have an active admin for a while

Lastly it changed to DE 157 and its been up and down like a yoyo all day with it going offline at 19.51 and it appears to be locked and down

Its annoying as id found a vehicle and stashed some loot and the usual stuff we do in Dayz, and now before it went down it rolled back to 1.7.2.3 and everything is lost.

Now im not bothered about the loot etc although it is annoying, its alpha after all.

But why do these servers change like this? can anyone explain?

It can be a multitude of things. I know admin have the ability to change the names themselves so maybe that is to prevent hackers from targeting their "favorite server".

Maybe someone was hosting a server, didn't want to any longer, and then it changes hands. They may be rolling back beta patches that are in their eyes more "stable".

Possibly but now since it went offline the last time its been locked and playing with 2 players in it on and off

Its starting to look dodgy for DE 157 and i wont be going back in there so i guess its time to find a new home, shame it used to be a good server :o(
