Is is possible to keep a server always in a night cycle?

I was on a server last night and came upon a truck hidden in the woods. I proceeded to drive off with the truck when all of a sudden the server reset itself (I'm thinking it was the admin). Now, whenever I go check out that server, it is always dark.

Is this possibly another ploy that people use to try and protect their loot?
