Failure to communicate=paranoid deathmatch

Recommended Posts

I feel that a huge contributer to the lack of trust leading to hostility is the lack of communication. Things like Global/Side chat made working out agreements between randoms much easier. These are things that can help.

-Two direct chat variants "whisper" and "shout", Whisper works out to 50m, shout out to 200m.

-Radios, similar to (but doesn't need to necesarily be as complex or realistic as) ACRE, so that players could scan frequencies and communicate agreements and cooperative action across chernarus "If anyone hears us, come to location X with your weapon lowered and announcing yourself on shout channel to meet up".

-Vehicle loudspeakers, military vehicles like the V3S, UAZ, Huey, and military offroad could have loudspeakers used to send out warnings/messages out across longer distances than voice. An example would be a huey circling elektro/cherno disseminating information to player via loudspeaker.

These are all great ideas. Side chat definitely helps the shoot-on-sight mentality that most players seem to have these days, but it's too unrealistic, and you need to be way too close for direct communication. A "shout" channel would easily compensate for both of these problems. Or just increase the radius of direct communication.

I like this idea, I could boom death metal on approach in a chopper to make people shit their pants. lmao

I think they should just add in the hand held radio with like 13 channels on it. Maybe make it so it has a max range but make it so that they can be found around the map and anyone on the same channel as u can hear your chat. That way when your running solo or just starting u can leave it on say channel 1 and contact other people in that channel or something along that line.

lol loudspeakers from helicopters, I can imagine it now: "I will not hurt or harm you. Just give me back the board, Lance. It was a good board... and I like it. You know how hard it is to find a board you like..."

I want a fucking megaphone! To herd zombies with, as much as anything else... :P

I like your ideas, as more ways to communicate would help, but still some people will just shoot you for the hell of it.

For example I spawned fresh after getting killed in Cherno, and spawned at the Balota airfield. I headed there and soon heard gun shots. I ran through the town to get to the airfield and gathered a few zeds who I knew I could get rid of in the air traffic control tower, so just kept going with them trailing me. Hearing a few more shots as I got closer, I ran around the left side of the ATCT and headed for the entrance when I saw 3 guys inside in the doorway looking out. 1 was in camo, another ghillie and 3rd I could only see the legs of. At a glance they looked like they had decent weapons. With the zombies behind me, I said over direct comms that I'll lead them away, so I ran past and disappeared into the hangars with the zeds still in pursuit. I eventually managed to loose them and moved out the hangars to try and establish comms with the guys I saw in the ATCT. I saw one up on the roof so I stopped and called out to him.

"Hey, hey dude?"

He turned around and looked at me, when a second appeared and set next to him.

"Im friendly, im not gana do anything...you cool?"

They sat and starred at me for about 10secs, I was crouched and had nothing on me. I kinda decided that it would be best to leave, but was intrigued as to whether or not they'd let me join them, so I waited for a little bit before talking again.

"I can leave if you want..?"

About a second after I said that, they shot and killed me.

The only time you can really risk talking to others is if you have no weapons. Im hoping more ways to communicate will tone down the amount of SOS but I doubt many people will change their current ways.

Dont think failure to communicate is the problem with deathmatchers and hillbilly snipers who kills hatchet wielding survivors to raise their murder counter?

But yes for better communications.
