Captain America (DayZ) 7 Posted July 31, 2012 (edited) Hello, I just thought I could suggest things on skins. Maybe extra or perhaps tweaking. Anyway, let's begin.A lot of people complain of being incapable of distinguishing friend from foe. It used to be that you got a Bandit skin after a certain amount of humanity was lost. This was taken out because they became shoot on site and everybody else could just walk around without any problem. Now it has created tension between everybody that doesn't know the other. Which results in a firefight to end the other persons life. Though the tension is good, however, it isn't good to just have people killing each other because we don't know if the other is friendly. Really, with the zombies becoming even more dangerous because they can make you bleed and break your leg in one hit, and they re-spawn ever so quickly, people will then run away from each other. I have a proposition to fix this problem.I don't want to bring back the Bandit skin unless it would be some form of pick up skin. Which is actually what a lot of people seem to want. However, I'm talking about distinguishing right now. What I was thinking, and feel free to reject the notion, but perhaps with every person you kill a slight tear in the clothing or some blood will appear on the person's skin. Very subtle, very small, so you have to actually study the person. Rather than having a whole skin dedicated for this, you can just mess with the clothing a little bit with every murder you acquire. After a certain amount, blood stops appearing or tears or whatever you would decide to put on there would stop appearing because we're going for subtle, not all out "I'M A BANDIT KILL MEEEEEE!" sort of thing. What do you guys think of this? I think it's pretty good.Regarding new skins, perhaps bringing the bandit skin back as a pick up skin would be kind of cool. It looks amazing in the first place and it would be sad to see it go completely. This is a suggestion and I would still play the game even without it as a pick up skin. Really, it doesn't really matter because the game is already amazing. I'm just suggesting to not let the skin you guys worked on for I don't really know how long to not got waste.Another skin you could have is a soldier skin. Not everybody who is in an apocalypse is a civilian. Perhaps the choice of having a soldier skin, even if it's something like boot-camp wear. I believe it would be kind of cool to look like a new soldier who just found himself in the middle of a zombie apocalypse and now must scavenge to survive. Of course, they have to start out on the coast like everybody else. No advantage, but more just for role-play reasons or just for the hell of it.One last idea would be the idea of customizing the skins. To change the colors as we see fit and stick with those until we find a different skin. We can't customize those obviously. But at the beginning when creating a character we can choose a gender then customize our civilian clothing. Different color, whether or not we want a hat, what kind of hat, if we want gloves. What color those are, and so on.Finally, the backpacks. I'm not here to ask for another backpack. I'm here to suggest we start with the Czech pack. The little six inventory slot one, because it really is the worst. It pretty much goes to waste when it comes to finding a new backpack. I mean, if you want it to be useful, then you could make backpacks appear on people with gillie suits so they would have to give up their huge backpacks for the small camouflage one that barely shows up. All I'm suggesting here is to make us start with the Czech pack, because it really is useless with less slots than the starter backpack. Thanks for reading. Furry_PawstarZ 31 Posted August 1, 2012 I think new skins would be awesome, but in reply to your question in reality i can't see killing someone changing your appearance so why do it in a realistic survival game?? If you think someones going to shoot you avoid them...
wtfosaurus 30 Posted August 1, 2012 I believe Rocket said somewhere that he wanted to add more skins in the game to help distinguish those in your group from those who are not-I'm not sure where the source is, if I find it I will post it here. The small backpack isn't useless... yeah you can't carry as much stuff in it but it does make your silhouette much much smaller when prone on the ground. Just for like, no reason other than to have a mask. Like gas masks or bandanna masks? Some pretty damn cool stuff, if you ask me.I believe Rocket said somewhere that he wanted to add more skins in the game to help distinguish those in your group from those who are not-I'm not sure where the source is, if I find it I will post it here. The small backpack isn't useless... yeah you can't carry as much stuff in it but it does make your silhouette much much smaller when prone on the ground. Please do find the source, I'd actually like to see what he has in mind. Hanz 6 Posted August 1, 2012 I think the customizing skins is a great idea, when your in a group or something you could all have green hates or something to distinguish friend from foe.
