1 step from repairing a helicopter -- server restart, dead helicopter

Possibly one of the most frustrating experiences in my time in Day Z.

Spawn in at my Skalisty Island camp (which has been thouroughly raided--thanks for putting something useful out here rocket, now it's swarming :( ), and then decide I may as well go check the chopper spawn. Miraculously, there's a Huey sitting there. Even more miraculously, everything is in the green except for fuel and instruments.

I sit and wait for my friend to bring the scrap, a few jerry cans and a panel of windscreen glass. I kill two people defending my find (probably the kind gentlemen that repaired it in the first place), making their friends disappear.

Just as my friend finishes the long swim to the island, the server goes down for an automatic restart. We wait, and jump back in the server.

Run up to the helicopter--everything in the red, all the windows smashed, no fuel.

GG Day Z, just as I thought I'd finally found something super exciting. 1:30am here, so fuck going to find all the stuff.

At least I wasn't the one who repaired it in the first place.

Frustrating hey? Try actually getting it fixed then having a hacker kill everyone in the server because he saw our helicopter, and destroying the helicopter with less than 30 minutes of flight time on it. What a fucking joke this is.

yes, Chopper is destrayed again after server restart, i had the same experience

We got the fly ours at least, but yes it vanished from the place we parked it so perhaps the coding needs some fine tuning because our other vehicles saved to location ok.

We had a really wild escape with ours. We got there, repaired it and we were just about to start fuelling when someone opened fire and killed one of our darlings. Cue intense gunfire refuelling, all done by me, with my back to the shooter. We escaped with just enough fuel to get it over the water to the beach NW of the island. Epic times.

I highly advise you all to play the "airwolf" themetune while flying.

Yeah Snaiper, I'd saved it a bunch of times prior to the restart. And I would assume the guys repairing it before me had saved it at some point during the repair too.

Was this possible on us1082?

No, it was ANZ4 (which makes the find even more special, since all of the Day Z players in Australia have 8 servers, ie 8 helicopters, to go around). But perhaps it's not so special if it just reappears there broken after each restart, which seems to be the case.

I think he more meant that it's even worse when the admin did it on purpose. Which it totally is, at least I know there wasn't some guy sitting at a computer watching me fly away, guffawing as he presses his big red "server restart" button.

On a side note, I usually never, ever kill people unless I absolutely have to. But I felt only a slight pang of guilt as I gunned the lightly armed guys down to defend 'my' chopper. I said "I'm really sorry" over direct as I fired my G17 into their cute little chests. I guess everybody has a price. Then I felt better as their friends Alt-F4d into oblivion so as not to face the wrath of one of the weakest pistols in the game.

Every pistol but the revolver and m1911 has the same damage.

But due to the low recoil and high accuracy of the g17 i would say that this is the strongest sidearm in the game!

I just wanted to add that my 3 Hueys disappeared after Server restart.

I repaired 3 Hueys on 2 different Servers and every single huey despawned from the save point spawned back at the point where I repaired it.

Spawnpoint was "Skalisty Island" - maybe just this spawnpoint is bugged?

I've actually had the same happen with an admin i forgot the server though. we crashed our chopper and the server reset right when we got to it. When it came back up my buddy killed someone that was near it (it was actually stil there. Only time out of 7 choppers it stayed.) So then we all 3 start getting kicked for "ghosting". I dont' have my copy running in steam so sadly I can't take screens. Practically every server I've set as a home server has currupt as admins but they do it in ways that would be hard to prove like just randomly reseting and things of that nature. I used to play in 1438 which had hardcore rules and we got a chopper and found the admins clans camp and stole everything so after that they turned on the radar were you could see vehicles nearby and your location for like 2 days. They got all their stuff and reverted it back to hardcore rules.
