no zombies when on vehicle

Hey DayZ community,

it is an awesome moment when you drive your first vehicle in DayZ btw :).

But I noticed that no zombies spawn arround me(Debug Console says alive/total 0/0) when I'm driving through Chernarus(countyside or city doesn't matter).

They start spawning when I'm getting out of the vehicle only.

Related to the no zombie spawn issue I can't find any loot when I sit on a vehicle.

Only when I get out and wait a couple of mins loot start spawning.

Is this a bug/server issue/feature or something else?

Please shed light into the dark.

If our lovely zombies can't slap the piss out of you then no.. You won't generate loot. Sorry fellow.. ;)

Items spawn when you cross a threshold from a certain distance. Apparently, if not in a vehicle.

My understanding is that it's to save memory.

You actually need to park about 100m away and walk in to get spawns.

I had the same thing, I was flying around in the NW airfield (yes we have a legit heli) saw a helicopter crash site and flew to it we saw no zombies so i runned straight towards it 2 seconds later like 10 zombies spawn out of the heli and i ran the heck away in the heli and flew away

Thx for your quick responses. I watched a video on youtube where a squad is flying to a supermarket. they shot zombies and looted the market.

Refered to your descriptions I think it's a fake, isn't it?

Another player who was not in a vehicle could have been close enough to spawn the zombies and loot.
