JulieMeyers 78 Posted July 31, 2012 Please remove the "was killed" message along with the corpseflies & debugwindow. That way you can pretend like you died and trick your attacker. An alternative to the corpseflies is that they appear after X number of minutes after the person was killed or simply after that somebody looted the corpse. The murder- and banditkills would be shown to you when you have died. This would make the game better seeing it as it would add to the realism. DevilDriver (DayZ) 10 Posted July 31, 2012 (edited) The removal of the 'was killed' message would be great!That should defo be removed as it will not only make it possible for people in close combat to feign death, but also when you see someone running through the woods and take a pot shot with a sniper you wouldn't know if you had hit or not and it would add to the danger. I think if you remove the ability to see if your target was hit or died then it should be replaced by an audible ouch if they get hit or blood on the floor/fallen leaves, tarmac, grass etc if you follow the trail so to speak. Also a character should be less able to run away when shot anywhere except the arms. If a person is shot in real life unless it its a graze they rarely sprint away normally. They have to crawl or roll. or simply cannot move away but can still return fire albeit in panic mode. The true mark of a simulator rather than just a game would be that you never get told by the game if you killed someone. Until other methods such as.Food = Stomach Rumble when hungry, Lighter pulses of vision when dying of hunger.Drink = Coughing for thristy, panting for dying of hunger.Blood = Slow pained noises for losing blood, Groans for very low blood. But all this is going to do is give snipers/campers even more of a upperhand than they already have. Its going to make anyone who gets the drop on someone a guranteed kill (yes thats realistic, but it will not be a enjoyable aspect of the game, it will be exploited by people who want to ONLY hunt other players). So people will just hide constantly around towns with no chance of ever being found because if they shoot someone, they can't run away, they will crawl and die. I like the idea, and I LOVE simulation games, but whats happening in DayZ is that people aren't playing as a simulation (only a handful), they are playing as a Call of Duty game, and ruining it for the people who want a simulation. If this game was eventually ported to a new engine or the source code for the arma 3 VR3 engine was licensed and then modified to eradicate nearly all of the current forms of hacking that you see then the OP's ideas could be possible in some form or another. I see what you mean, but all that stuff could still be logged and viewed by the server-host or hive server. You suspect cheating? You make a report or contact the server host. That way the bancannon can still be pointed and fired.Regarding the bugwindow - you could still keep the icons. You see how much blood you got from the tint on the drop.
