Only an idiot shoots while running without specialist training, and even then it would be short-distance via controlled movements. None of the people in Dayz apart from a couple of infected have ever been identified as military-trained personel, (despite their near born-natural gun skills and movements).Yes, you would only do this if the zombies were right behind you or right in front.
