Screen Fade

Sporatically, my screen will go completely black and slowly fade back to normal visibility.

When this happens, I can still see all my status indicators and crosshair, but nothing else.

It's the same effect that happens when you start a new life.

I'm playing only on servers that are the same version as mine, and I'm completely up to date.

Any suggestions?
