Just started, having a bit of trouble with dark.

I've just started playing the game (DLed the mod around about 20 mins ago), and so far, every single server I've tried has been night-time, and I've been unable to do much more than flail around and run into trees in the dark.

The irritating thing is, this includes the Australian servers (I'm an Australian player), which seems fairly odd- the time I'm normally able to play games (IE: Daytime) is also when the game is very difficult to play as a starter due to it being pitch black.

So I've got to ask- is it like this on all servers? Do all servers share the exact same day/ night cycle, or are there local variations based on where it is hosted?

And if it is this way, is there any way to make seeing at night easier that doesn't require me to find something during the day-time?

no normaly its on the same cycle as your area (if your playing on local servers that is)

DL a proggy called Dayzcommander (it lets you scan for various flags including day/night.)

but even with that sometimes you'll find servers that are different in game then their listed times..

personaly i dont play on dark servers either, its simply not fun..i'll just scan for something with lots of daylight

Look down your server list while in arma 2 OA and some (not all) will have say GMT+ 6. Work out your timezone difference and your good to go :)

Brissy, Sydney and Melborne are GMT+10. So GMT + 6 is four hours earlier..should be daylight (11.30am) as it is currently 3.30 pm here.

Servers with high populations are currently day time, people don't tend to play on night servers, so it is easy to identify the day time ones from that.

It's good to play on servers which are dark but not too dark, that way you have an easier time travelling between towns without being spotted by Zeds, and people also get put off by dark servers so it's also a bit quieter, good luck anyway! :)
