How do I find servers with Side Chat?

No, They're not. If a server has Sidechat it's not connected to the global day z servers, so it saves locally. In theory you have 2 characters. One that saves to day z global server and one that saves to that local server that has sidechat.

Although a bit unrealistic and atmosphere breaking, it would certainly add to the in game community "if" heavily admin'd.

I believe maybe having it as an option wouldn't be so bad.

Side chat is a server setting, a server can have it enabled and still be connected to the hive (main database).

BUT... It is against the rules for an admin to modify the mission file, which as far as I am aware they need to do to enable it.

You are not missing out on anything when you don't have the side chat on a server. ;)
