FPS horrible in forests

Hi,

So when I go into a place with a lot of trees and brush, my fps drops tremendously and it makes the game unplayable. But, the weird part is most of the time in cities, even the big ones, my fps is fine.

Are there any quick fixes to this problem?

Here are some of my laptop specs.

WIndows 7 Home Premium 64 bit

Intel Core i7-2620m @ 2.70Ghz

4Gb RAM

Intel HD Graphics Family

Is the problem the crappy graphics card?

Yep, it's the integrated graphics

You need to get a dedicated graphics card not a chip set (integrated graphics). Intel HD graphics are not even meant for games.

Is there any possible way to replace the graphics card? Or am I pretty much screwed...

From what I've read, forests are gpu intensive, and cities are cpu intensive. I think gaming laptops sometimes have an expansion slot for graphics but as yours is onboard i doubt it. There were a few guides about changing onboard graphics but it involves a lot of soldering and would likely end in a buggered laptop. Do you find your laptop gets very hot when youre out in the forests?

Yeah I think more so when I am in forests...

Probably cause my gpu sucks.

Yeah :/ You can't put a graphics card into a laptop motherboard, i mean know it might be possible with intel thunderbolt but that's not really commercially available right now

As a stopgap method to improve fps you could try an external laptop cooling solution, like one of the stands that has an inbuilt fan to suck some heat away.

God knows most low-mid end laptops get hot as hell if u do much with them.

Might not help an awful lot but theyre fairly inexpensive, other option is get a decent pc/laptop.

Yeah.... I don't think its really a cooling problem because this laptop has a pretty effective fan.

The funny thing is my old Dell XPS m1530 which was much older than this one ran games much better..

I guess only option is to get another pc... lol. Which would be kind of ridiculous for a game..

Oh well.
