For The Sake of Realism

Recommended Posts

Let me just say that I am extremely impressed with this mod, and that I really cant get enough of it. Super addicted lol. However I feel that some of the core gameplay features are extremely limiting and exaggerated.

Food and Water

Dont DayZ servers play in real time? If so why does my character require entire canteens of water every 20 minutes? Anyone who has ever been in the military knows how painful it is to drink an entire canteen in one sitting. Why do I need to eat chickens and cans of sardines every 30 minutes? It's ridiculous.

The food and water system should be toned way down. I find myself spending hours crawling through villages searching for cans of food and soda, so that my fatass character may exist for atleast another hour. Once you get a decent gun and a respectable amount of ammo, you really spend all your time frantically searching for sustenance.

On top of that, water should be easier to come by, and players should be able to refill canteens when it rains. Also, I think it would be a good idea for raw meat that we collect from animals to dry over time and become jerky. However I might be the only person who has a hard time finding matches.

Thanks for reading lol. Any thoughts?

Dried meat to jerky is still cooked and with a ton of salt and other other processes.

As annoying as it is to constantly try to find food once you have the means to cook raw meat and have a canten that part of the game becomes an after thought. If I die its always because of something silly and not from food. In fact my camp is over loaded with food/water.

Lol. Oke lol i will lol for lolololololololololopolol.

Oke serious time. If you are running ingame, you will dehydrate faster and get hungry faster. I have no problem with the current hunger and thirst script. What els do i have to with all those canned goodies :-)

You should have to eat/drink 3-4 times a day in playing time. I have never died from lack of food or water either, I just feel we could focus on the better aspects of the game if it was toned down.

My guess is that this is because the stamina values for arma2 are based on fat airsoft players, goes double for ACE2. Example:l.jpg

If your sprinting everywhere then that'll explain why you need to drink so often. If your lying down waiting for someone or observing/sniping or using a vehicle you hardly need to drink at all. If you go and run a marathon carrying an Alice Pack and an M16 then see how often you need to drink.

The food side of things is probably a bit harsh but then if we could go for 3 days (in game) without eating it would probably almost remove that whole aspect of the game so I guess it's a case of balance.

P.S - I used to have a bloody nightmare finding matches but recently i seem to find a pack every time I go to the supermarket. Weird.

^ I agree. But I think it should be 3-4 times a day.

The eating/drinking is already trivial IMO. If you spend 1 run to a general store you can stock up on a days supply. If you camp near certain citys the general store run is even trivial in itself because its right on the outskirts of town and you may have to contend with 4 zombies Players are random but there are citys that are less frequented by them.

The system is a bit over tuned I agree but its still manageable when you can sprint from the coast almost mid inland before needing to look.
