Graphical tearing

Recommended Posts

I know this has been mentioned, I've yet to find a fix for it though. Currently I am plagued with this (It was all fine until I got to berenzo).

I've seen suggestions such as changing graphical settings and/or resolution, and I've tried that but still nothing.

Does anyone have a temporary fix please? (Please don't start whining about this issue and derailing the thread, it's alpha, these things happen)

I'm in a bit of a bind though, before I logged out earlier due to this I was starving and ate my last can of food (Could not find a cow anywhere! Do they go in at night?) but I was right outside the city. I logged off and when I came back on a new server this afternoon, I was actually starving again (had ate the can literally 30 sec's before I logged, so don't have the can) but I can't get in the city because of the tearing, and I can't go anywhere else since I will starve.

So, any one found any workarounds that doesn't include changing res or graphics?

Thanks in advance.

About the cows, yes they appear at night; I saw 3 last night.

Could you define tearing? Typically screen tearing is when you look from left to right and you get "square" looking cutouts that tear in and out until the screen is still. Like BlazeN said, VSYNC will fix this. If you're talking about the polygonal anomalies that people have been getting since 1.7.2.4, I don't think there's a 100% fix. Turning Video memory to low seems to make it not as dramatic, but it sill exists.

i havnt tried the Vsync thing. but for me and my mates we flush it. "Hold SHIFT + Minus" on the numpad then type "FLUSH" , nothing will come up to type in but when you have typed flush the screen will say recieving and then refresh and youre Tear will Be Randomly diffrent, as in some times it looks better other times worse usually takes 2-3 times to get a decent one.

Vsync doesn't fix it, I actually tried it along with every combination of graphical changes earlier :P

As for the tearing, I mean all the weird shapes and shit, all brown and grey going from a point in the middle of the screen like huge triangles (making it absolutely impossible to see, not just a little bit, but completely).

It's completely solid so I can't even estimate where to go by going around it. Soon as I look at the city it goes crazy. Saw another few people say it happens at that city but I won't make it back to another.

And yeah, I've seen cows at night before but not the last couple of days, it doesn't matter as I found a day time server but I don't think I can play again until this is fixed as I don't want to die :(

Sad that there's no fix yet then, I hope he's working on one.

Yeah I've had that since 1.7.2.4. There's theories that it's from a glitched fence, barbed wire, dead military bodies etc. I was riding on a bus last night and we had to repair the wheels a few times because the driver didn't see the barricades from all the graphical glitches.

Hopefully it'll be addressed.

As far as glitched bodies go, ill second that one. At least when i goto the 'barracks/tents' north east in stary, its almost impossible to search that area because of this problem.

For a fix though, wish i could help but i cant figure it out myself.

Only thing i can offer is, if u get your exact location i can come help out with food. Or if you post on the medic thread, them people are crazy nice and will help as well. Just got some help yesterday myself from one of them.

Rocket has already confirmed that he will include the graphical tearing fix of soldier bodies and barbwires in 1.7.2.5.

As someone has said...

Hold left shift while double tapping minus on the number pad then type flush. This has worked for me 100% of the time :)

Has worked with barbed wire bug, but the newest patch messed something. In Balota i can't loot, one friend of mine reported that he cannot overwatch me because he had same bug in NWAF.
