New player - Save issue - help?

Hello fello zombie haters\lovers,

Im new and have been trying to learn this game off and on the last few weeks. My issue is with keeping the character I play with. For some reason it doesn't save.

I post this, as I finally found a gun that wasnt a pistol or rifle. I found an M5 (err, looks like a machine gun with granade launcher and laser scope) and was very excited. Unfortunately I had to leave and thus, lost it. I can't explain the dismay I feel for this game right now. Hell, I didn't even have a chance to use it.

I don't have one server to use. Living in Australia, our servers are rather slow or have issues. I jump on whatever US server I can at the time. Does this have something to do with it you think? Is it possible some servers are not updated with the latest patches and so my game doesn't carry over?

Once I played with my brother. My game did save but we only had 2 sessions. We ended up being killed by some hacker so I guess my issues or luck is rather bad.

As of now I have quit DayZ unless I can get some answers. Losing a cool gun was the last straw. This game just isn't rewarding as it is right now.

there can be 3 issues why things dont save.

1. You died , then you have to restart new anyways.

2. You log out to fast after picking up items, then a spezific amount of time wont be saved.

3.You play on servers that are not connectet to the hive, so they store the data local (becouse its an privat server)

Correkt me if im missing some saving issues

Make sure server are up to level with you client when it comes to versions.....

And make sure you only play on servers that are connected to the Dayz Hive....if you play on private servers your progress dont follow if you move to a Dayz Hive connected one.

Idle curiosity- What is the 'save timer' length? I wish to avoid painful gear loss issues.
