In my experience if they disc straight after the bullet left your gun, they will die on login, or be unconscious and then die on login.

If they are low enough and bleeding and if they are unconscious then they will die from bleeding out unless they have someone bandage them.

You'll also get the murder/bandit kill if they log back into the same server and die from it when you're still on, the hive remembers who shot them.
