TheWeedMan 132 Posted July 30, 2012 Hey allSo lately hackers are running riot and killing everyone on servers, server hoppers and are abusing firefights. There is a very simple solution to this that will be greatly beneficial to server owners and cheat reporters. This solution would be to simply display information in game. For example:-Player 1 was killed by Player 2Player 3 disconnectedIf a hackers on a server his name is displayed for multiple kills making it easier to report him/her.Its not an amazing fix but it would work fine for now until something better comes along.
SumoS 168 Posted July 30, 2012 Agreed.I would at least like to see an admin channel that displays these.Hopefully other admins would not abuse this.
SANDMAN DAN 34 Posted July 30, 2012 Good thinking, for those with a heart. On the downside you might unfortunetly run into some prick Admin with a God Complex.Ying/Yang and all that shit.
Bladez 0f Fury 33 Posted July 30, 2012 The only way it shows Player killed player is in the face of TK's or Killing someone from the enemy team (Survivors are Blufor, and Zombies are OpFor from what I can tell) Meaning the only way it would show a PVP log is if everyone was in FFA (which isn't possible) or if half were zombies and the other half were blufor.Good Idea, but will never happen.Also. what happens if you come across a group of 10 people and kill them all then get deemed a cheater? Thats not fair in the slightest.
DarkRaven123 602 Posted July 30, 2012 Unfortunately it's more complicated then that.I haven't personally used a nuke, nor even seen one, but I'm fairly certain that when they use it, it would be spawned in neutral. So you wouldn't be able to track the killer. Also, it would possibly be an idea to simply add Player X killed player Y in the server side logs, as to track the hackers who teleport everyone to one place and kill people with firearms, or hatchets, etc.It would add a lot of size to the already huge log files though. Avean (DayZ) 31 Posted July 30, 2012 It will not work as the player name is not unique, its whatever your profile in Arma is called so they can change easily.
TheWeedMan 132 Posted July 30, 2012 Presently no one knows who kills them with hax, this would simply be used to help identify the hacker.
grezvany13 56 Posted July 30, 2012 Your idea makes sense, but will result in a "God-complex" (as SANDMAN DAN said) by admins, hackusations for people who are just better then the avarage player or simply have stupid luck. For example; if I shoot down a helicopter I will recieve up to 8 kills at once, which might trigger hackusations by either players or admins. If I'm correct, the HIVE does store this information (player X killed player Y) and it's certainly available at the server logs. So, if someone complains about a hacker who insta-kills multiple people at a server, this can be checked at the database or logs to find the person who triggered it. It's not a 100% guaranty, but it's more solid then having admins or survivors decide who's the hacker.
