Jpo2434 3 Posted July 30, 2012 The fact that zombies can walk through closed doors drives me insane. I had an ak47 with a holographic sight, a g17 with plenty of mags, a coyote backpack, yes the biggest pack and the game, and a whole bunch of items. I was looting a store when through a closed door comes a zombie who blindsides me and knocks me to the ground. There was no way I could have forseseen it and nothing I could have done about it. I died and lost absolutely everything. I wouldn't have lost hours of effort if a zombie hadn't walked through a CLOSED door. This issue needs to be fixed as soon as possible. If you agree with me or had a similar experience respond to this so the makers of this mod can see how many people are affected by this issue and want it fixed! Thanks for your time. sealteamaus 16 Posted July 30, 2012 You don't think the developer is already aware of this? Relax and have a good time
komoter226@yahoo.co.uk 59 Posted July 30, 2012 It's an engine-related bug. Rocket can't do anything about it until the game goes stand-alone. For now, try to stay away from walls and doors ;)
Jpo2434 3 Posted July 30, 2012 I just hate that the one time I die from something as stupid is this is the time I have the most good stuff. This post was really just made out of frustration at the moment. I'm well aware that the developers already know about this issue but I didn't know that it was out of their hands to fix this. Well I guess I will spend very little time near doors in the future...
(AOW)n4zRuDiN 10 Posted July 30, 2012 So let me get this straight, a zombie blindsided you?Let me ask you, are you playing with no volume? Sounds to me like you have yourself to blame for this for lack of self awareness.Don't let those items bother you, they are easy to find, except the backback takes abit of time unless your very lucky. I did not hear him until he had knocked me down. And where do you recommend finding those items quickly and efficiently? I'd really appreciate some tips
(AOW)n4zRuDiN 10 Posted July 30, 2012 You can always try Stary Sobor, plenty of good loot to go around at the military tents (wish they could remove it) go in there and you go out fully armed to take out an army of zombies. As for other locations try any town with big letters on the map, if not then you better have somewhat luck in a small town to get a gun.If you want more specific locations on where to find loot and what type of quality loot you can check here: http://dayzdb.com/map#4.071.
Mos1ey 6301 Posted July 30, 2012 Doors opening don't make sound anyway. If he'd opened the door you still would have died, lol.
kulin 10 Posted July 30, 2012 (edited) I think its okay that they can go through doors. Since its not possible to destroy a door in this game there is no other solution than just let them go through. A normal zombie would just break them open and throw the door at your head!I think its more annoying that Zombies can hit and see you through walls. Especially in the barracks this is a pain the ass. Its also very annoying that you can break a bone by opening a door in the barracks. :D Edited July 30, 2012 by Knightowl

hoorah (DayZ) 36 Posted July 30, 2012 It seems to me like closed doors slow zombies down a bit at least. Is this true, or is it just my perception that they are slower? Either way, yeah, its irritating, especially since they can see you through walls.I was looting a supermarket once and heard the zombies constantly aggroing around me. Had no idea if they were coming into the store or just flipping out on the other side of the wall. Terrifying.A tip for the OP. I NEVER carry around more than one food item if I have less than 12000 blood. Maybe its just my play style, but I very rarely find myself in a situation where I've gone through the hunger indicator TWICE and can't get to town. So, if you've got food, use it up. Being at low blood doesn't just mean you have fewer hit points, it means you have a better chance of being knocked out or having a broken bone. Also, this is something that took me awhile to learn, and I still have trouble with - try not to be a pack rat before looting. For example, if I'm about to loot a supermarket, I drink all but one of my sodas and all of my food first before I head into the store. That way its easy to just jump in, take everything I want, and jump out rather than deciding what I want to keep in inventory at each loot pile.
