Picking up weapons?

I'm a new player. I came across an axe. How would i pick it up and use it?

You use the scroll wheel for almost everything in this game, to pick an axe up you scroll and it will say ''Pick up hatchet'' if i'm not mistaken.

If you want to use the hatchet as a weapon make sure to unequip it from your toolbelt by going into your inventory and right clicking it. Then you have to "reload" it. Generally if it's a single tool like a hatchet you can just click the middle mouse rather than scrolling

If you don't even know how to pick things up, I recommend playing the actually campaign. Not only is it fun, but you will learn a lot about the game.
