Theon (DayZ) 0 Posted July 29, 2012 Server Name: US267 (no spaces in name)(Your) Timezone: ESTDate/Time: 7/29/2012 ~3:30 pmServer Administrator('s): The server is listed as "hosted by Derp," currently [derp]Chavez is online with one other player, Dan.What happened: I was going to join US267 as I know of some items on that server that I wanted to locate and acquire and went I went to try and get onto the server I noticed it asked me for a password, which was not true as of about four days ago. I do not wish to be overly speculative but I suspect this is being done to give people on the server time to exploit changes/additions in the newest patch and hotfix.Evidence/Proof:http://tinypic.com/r/2ryiniu/
Preslei 6 Posted August 2, 2012 Actually, he locks the server to make sure everything is working well before he lets the public population in. Thanks for implying something negative though.
chaveezy 19 Posted August 2, 2012 Hey thanks for the update Theon! We lock the server for many reasons, especially since the update there has been many restarts and script changes. For example, our BattlEye/Scripts.txt file has been modified several times which required restarts and it's easier to lock the server then explain to people that we have to shut down 3-4, sometimes 5 times in a row. Another example is the fact that we were doing some router/network/hardware maintenance and cross checking the server side operation, ie: ping, spawn times, etc, to ensure it's working great for the players..This is just a few reasons why we would potentially lock the server, it's known as "maintenance mode", and it's end result is to allow a better operating server for YOU, but again, thanks for the update.[derp]Chavez
