deuce985 2 Posted July 29, 2012 (edited) Forgive me for making this topic if its been talked about a lot or Rocket touched on it but I can't seem to find a search button(new to forums). I've recently bought this game due to all the hype and I want say, it's one of the best experiences I've had in gaming for awhile. I've been wanting a game like this forever. However, it's stil in alpha and many things can be improved on. We know Rocket talked about a few things like dog companions and base building. These would be great features but I haven't heard Rocket talking about one feature in my mind that would be amazing. Crafting.Too many times I'm running around in this world and stumble upon a remote radio tower and no loot around it. Same thing going through a small village with no "points interest buildings".I'd love to see the world filled with a ton of miscellaneous items for crafting. Some things they can do with a crafting system:-Make more interiors in the game-Fill the world with many more new misc items for crafting-Allow a modular system on guns where I have to find mods for it. Want a Kobra scope on my AK-47? You need to find the item. Want a flashlight on M4? Find it. And make it fully customizable where I open a weapon menu, similar to a loadout and put mods on my guns. Currently the game just randomly spawns with them on it. I'd like more control over this.-Create unique weapons/items through a series of items you collectGo into a radio tower and find communication equipment to build radios. Or fuel the generator on one of these and use a series of items to "repair" the communication tower and broadcast a looping signal on a frequency. People who have crafted radios can hear this on the frequency. Perhaps it's friendly or maybe it's just a bandit trying to ambush you? Find items to craft stuff like sign posts that can be both helpful and used for tricking players into ambushes. Craft unique weapons only from misc items. Like a bat with nails in it. Or craft traps. Make a tripwire with a shotgun above a doorway as a security system or simply just be a bandit dick. They extend this further by making mods on guns spawn and giving you full control over it. But sometimes you need certain items to possibly fix broken parts. Allow you to disassemble certain items and scrap the good parts. Maybe even make some body armor with the little resources you have available to you?I don't know, it just seems like this is a big feature missing in the game. In a world where it's all about survival, it only seems logical to scavenge and build off whatever limited resources you get. What do you guys think? Greenhound 33 Posted July 29, 2012 Well, it depends how well it would work. It depends if it would keep it as the same hardcore zombie survival game it is rather than an MMO.Besides, I'm not sure how this would be coded into ArmA, I guess he could make one of those custom GUI's I see on alot of ArmA2 mods. AfterShave 140 Posted July 29, 2012 Right now, half the features don't work properly.I would like to able to climb ladders without glitch falling and breaking a leg first

Items would have rarity spawn values like they already have. What do you do when you go to cities? Look for items. I don't see how this would hurt the core gameplay. it simply gives you more incentive to hit lootable areas. It would likely cause more PvP too but it gives the player more content to jump into while surviving. Obviously it would suck to die and lose all the items but that's apart of the game. People would be forced to play smarter too and more careful. Especially with the ability to craft things like traps.Of course, I'm just throwing ideas out. Not sure if he can easily code this into the game. All the more reason to go standalone, IMO. Edited July 29, 2012 by deuce985
Swineflew 480 Posted July 29, 2012 I'm not able to read the posts right now, but from what I did read it seemed more like customizing weapons with items you find. Yes please, and yes I crafting too.I'm a big fan of customizition so I'm all for adding crafting and more items.
Soapmaker 3 Posted July 29, 2012 Think I remember hearing something about weapon customization coming in with the arma 3 engine (maybe someone else can confirm?), If this is the case I would imagine you need to find the parts to use them so that's something to look forward to fingers crossed. Man, I'd imagine that game is going to kill rigs...
