Balota Airstrip Loot Question

I have found M24 DMR M14 M16a2 M9SD M9 Uzi and all the ak's and frag nades at bolota at the med camps just south of the hanger it just depends on the time you go really but a lot of people go there so its hard to get it when it spawns fresh

My first lives/deaths consisted of very noobish attempts to loot buildings around Cherno/Elektro. Finding this to be futile' date=' I looked for another place to get some decent equipment.

In his interview with PCGamer, Rocket mentioned taking some new players to the southern airstrip in order to get better weapons. Taking a look at the map I figured this must mean the one at Balota on the SW coast.

Last night I spend several hours cautiously making my way to this airstrip. I checked both large hangar buildings and the tower, as well as several smaller buildings further down the airstrip, and yet I found no weapons. Instead I just got a few stacks of MP5 ammo and some chemlights.

Does this mean that someone had come by recently and already looted the good stuff? I thought that the respawn timers on most things was about 30 minutes - that seems short enough for me to have seen something as I spent at least 30 minutes carefully checking out the various buildings.

The Balota Airfield does have the opportunity to grant you some decent weapons and loot, mostly military (weapons, chemlights, flares, bandages).

Last night I finally decided to man up and play at night and was rewarded with a DMR + 2 mags for it. It was located in the first hangar to the right of the air control tower.

For utilitarian loot (map, compass, matches, wood, knife) I will usually go in the red apartment buildings in Cherno (west side) located across the street from the hospital.

The respawn timers are 15-30 minutes (word of mouth from players) however, I have been told that if you are around a certain radius of the spawn point the loot itself will not spawn (I have no confirmation of this, so I could be wrong).

Balota airfield is way too close to the beaches to be safe, but that depends on how you want to play I guess.
