Post here if Game is unplayable for you due to Low FPS

Recommended Posts

In the forest my fps us usually depending on server 30-60. In towns depending on server like 10-25. In towns it's pretty much unplayable when 10-15 FPS makes my aim so difficult.

This problem is within DayZ - I have tested playing Arma II in Cherno and Elektro and my FPS was like 60 whole time..

I have tried multiple fixes and tips but nothing works...

My specs:

AMD Phenom II 955BE @ 3.6 GHz

G.Skill DDR3 1600Mhz 6 GB RAM

Asus Geforce 560 Ti DirectCU II Top

128 GB Samsung 830 SSD

Weird. I get lower FPS if I lower my monitor res. Anything below my native res of 1680 results in even poorer performance.

You don't lower you monitor res, you lower the game's 3D resolution. You can put it in windowed mode and still have the window itself be at your monitor's native resolution, yet the game renders at a resolution of your choosing. I was pretty happy about this feature.

I'm guessing that lowering the resolution in Windows results in scaling and stretching the image to fit your monitor, decreasing FPS?

Hey guys, A-Train here. It would help us GREATLY if you can include your Operating System, 32/64 bit (important!!!), your directx information (dxdiag.exe), and your in game settings, especially your brightness and gamma settings when posting your system information. Please edit your existing posts if you've already posted and (if you remember or can find out) the server information (include the specs if you can get them) that you've had the best and worst success on. If any of you are brave, try reinstalling the game, patch up, and without modifying any settings, jump on your favorite server and record the performance (write it down, not video record).

This gives us a rounded picture of what's going on and see if we can find the problem. I am certain that the problem is not hardware but software related.

If an admin can sticky or pin this thread, it would make life easier! Thanks!

Ok well this is weird. Suddenly my FPS is back to normal, 20-35 ish at the moment. Nice and smooth too.

This could be perhaps because it's monday and the servers/hive are under less of a stress load....will update here when I've tested some more. Maybe I just have to play when no one else is!

Or maybe they fixed some of these issues? Also not getting any glitches so far, though I don't think I've come close to any static zombie corpses yet.....we shall see.

To be continued....

Yup that;s what I meant. Lowering 3d res results in lower FPS. My monitor does all the scaling (set as such in NV control panel)

Anyway for now my FPS is back to normalish :)

Good idea. Thanks :)

I added my OS and DxDiag info

Didn't add server info as it seems to be pretty much the same across the board, however I play on ANZ 4 / 5 and ANZ 9 mostly. ANZ 9 (glovine) seems to give best performance for me, but not always. It seems to be dependant on how recently the server restarted as well as how many people are on the server.

The directx information you posted gives me the information needed but please but it in a code box or a box that we can scroll. If you can't do that, please upload it to a paste website and provide the link. That way we don't have to scroll. Thanks buddy!

Not sure what they are exactly but my fps are much worse since latest update than before. I never used a fps monitor because I didn't feel the need, game ran really fast/smooth at best settings.

GTX460

8GB RAM

The game has gotten unplayable for me.

18 fps in the city 22 fps in the woods.

AMD x4 3ghz

HD6850

4GB RAM

Win7 64

I did some GPU and CPU load monitoring yesterday. The weirdes thing is that my GPU load gets less in cities (drops to 20%) while my CPU load stays at 50% all the time, which results in low fps overall, But when I go into the forest I my gpu load goes up 90% and my frame rates are fine. After a while though my fps will always stay at 20 fps with a gpu load of 40% and my cpu at 50%.

Thanks!

I don't know "us" is, but Google doesn't seem to think you're a developer. Either way, I've attached dxdiag output to my first post. From what I've seen, there doesn't seem to be any obvious software causing the issue, but good luck putting the data together.

Use the edit button..

I'm sorry, wasn't trying to imply that I was a developer - us as in those of us who are trying to find the problem and find a solution. Computer guru here trying to be apart of the solution, not the problem.

Mobo: ASUS M4A77TD

CPU: 3.10 gHz AMD Phenom II X4

Ram: 4096 Mb

GPU: ATI Radeon HD 5770 1Gb

SPU: Soundblaster X-FI Titanium

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64

I know my computer is relatively old, but prior to this patch, I was getting 50-60 fps consistently with moderately high settings (I disabled post processing, it makes me nauseous) at 1600x900 with vsync enabled. Now it caps out at 10 fps and usually hovers just above 5. It doesn't seem to matter whether or not I'm in a city or the countryside.

DayZ was running fine for me last night, but today it's unplayable. I've always been able to play on highest possible settings with little to no problems. Right now, I'm spawned just outside of Cherno and my fps is horrible. Changing settings to lowest doesn't seem to make any difference either. I'm afraid to move at all or even play the game since I have some pretty good items.

Computer Specs

Windows 7 64-bit

AMD FX-6100 Zambezi 3.3 GHz (not overclocked) Six-Core processor

8GB DDR3 2000 Team Xtreem RAM (2x4GB)

Sapphire AMD Radeon HD 6870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 processor (Not overclocked, fan sped up from 20 to 50% speed)

640 GB 7200RPM 3GB/S HDD

4x120mm fans for way more cooling than I probably need lol

I ran some other games and Fallout: New Vegas runs perfectly at 60 fps on highest.

When I abort to the Operation Arrowhead menu, the background runs fine with no fps drop.

Right now, DayZ feels about 10 fps where I am just between Cherno and Vysota.

I haven't tried travelling to a more open area way from the city because I'm afraid I'll get shot or gangraped by zombies with all of the fps drop

I set the game to not launch with Steam and not replace files or w/e in DayZ Commander and everything seems to be working just fine again...

Anyways, my in-game audio sample is set to 32

All video settings at highest possible including post processing effects and all trees+grass etc.

I have vsync enabled as well. I'm at about 30 fps between Vystoa and Cherno.

I tested on a server with 1.7.2.4 and 1.62.95417 which is what I'm running with.

I'm wearing camo clothes if that changes anything.

(Off topic) When I put them on graphics/materials started to flip out and my backpack was reset

EDIT:

Gamma is around 1.1 and brightness at 1.4

Visability is max and both resolutions set to native 1280x1024 (Stupid old monitor lol)

I don't play on servers with over 150 ping.

One guide i read said vsync actually has a performance impact, and when i disabled mine it did actually help increase general fps ~ dont asky why its just pretty random.

Windows 7 home premium

Intel Core i7 @ 3.07Ghz

12GB RAM

GTX580

Still playable. Getting 20-30 FPS in major cities, 40-60 in the woods with the occasional lag spike. But it used to be aloot better. It seems to have gotten worse and worse with the latest beta updates.

Anyone got an idea of what my FPS should be at? I havent played any game yet with this PC thats given me lag on high/ultra settings
