Zombie spawning mechanics

My proposal is this:

Each player has a radius in which zombies cannot spawn, perhaps 15m, or something. For every zombie they kill it goes up by say 10m. Every minute it goes down a few metres until it reaches the default. This would allow players to effectively "clear" an area for a short while.
