Scripters, Hackers, have more control than me, an admin.

I hope you will enjoy being the admin's little bitch.

?? I thought I said I was having fun? Being anyone's bitch isn't my idea of fun. And stop hitting yourself in the face.

Read both. Frankly, there aren't a lot of things an admin can really do that don't also negatively affect him too (stop/restart server affects everyone, kick/ban/lock gets you blacklisted). I'm not sure where the admin hate and distrust come from.

That is a good question. When I think about DayZ at this point, I can easily get all my equipment back and top rated gear in maybe three or four hours. Once you have a pretty good understanding of the game its not that hard. Its just another game. I want to really hear Rockets conversation with the DevTeam and his explanation of why "I do not trust Server Admins."

I continue to be amazed at your jaded attitude toward admins. If you don't like the admins on one server, go play somewhere else.

I will re explain myself. AGAIN.

This is Rocket/DayZ dev team's project. This isn't yours, this isn't mine. As it is, the dayZ team is free to dictate ANY rules they see fit to be allowed to host a dayZ server, hive or not, they make the mod, it belong to them. Which make things simple. Either you accept the rules imposed to you and can host, or you don't and then you can still host something ELSE.

And this is with or without hive connection, it doesn't matter, as a software engineer i am free to decide if i want you to use my work or not, wether i have the technical means to prevent you to do so or not.

This also means that the dayz team could send cease and desist letters to whoever is running the unofficial local hive servers, they are, in essence violating the dayz license agreement. Why aren't they doing it? Probably because right now they have more important things to do than managing toddlers.

Right now the dayz team's goal is to create a shared experience, as a result there are rules imposed on those who offer their server to support the project. At no point did the DayZ team declare that you could have your OWN server, renting a dayZ server is a supporting effort.

Nobody force anyone to host a dayZ server, but if you want to anyway you have to follow the rules.

Why is this so hard to understand?

If you do not agree and do not wish to support this project, why are you still hosting?

Every butthurt server admin are waving their "I pay so you can play you prick! Aknowledge my might and godlyness!" or also "It's my server it's my rules STFU!" If i have to pick between the "entitled child mentality" and this, this is what worry me the most. It's this inability to perform a selfish act.

There are exellent server admins, you never hear them spew insults on this forum, they want dayZ to succeed, they don't care that they have to follow draconian rules, they don't have a misplaced ego or god complex, they simple like the game, like to play it and want everyone to have access to quality servers to play on.

They aren't hosting servers to give their clan advantages, they do not make their own rules, no matter how good they might be, they follow the proper channels for hacking because they understand that they are not judge and prosecutor in this project, they understand that what they do is essentially a thankless "plumbing" job that come with virtually no privileges.

Well you probably know my answer, but anyway. Being an admin is not something that is earned through merit, it's simply a matter of shelling out the money for it. It's not coming with integrity, especially today since servers are pretty cheap compared to a few decades ago.

I would love to be proven wrong, but for one cool admin there is 10 arrogant, insulting, power hungry, cheating, little kids (one or more of these adjectives) ones

Blah blah blah

You've never heard of constructive criticism, have you? Being a good server admin and having a difference of opinion with the devs are not mutually exclusive.

I think Kyrah and Ravin need to stay the fuck out of this thread. You worthless pricks have nothing positive to contribute, so shut the fuck up.

You don't like a server, get the fuck off it. I hope you come to our server, so we can ban you, you socialist scumbags(providing you can stop sucking each other's dicks long enough to actually play this game you clearly love to hack).

Yeah, with all your worthless dribble, defending hackers, and trying to shame admins for admining their own servers, you guys are nothing more than trolls. You certainly don't speak for Rocket, yet by the text in your own posts, you think you're God's gift to these forums. 500 posts of bullshit and negativity just tells the rest of us "low postcount newbs" that you guys aren't going to get laid anytime soon, so do us all a favor and go play grabass in some other game. It's clear you don't want this game to succeed, we get that.

Fuck off.

What has socialism to do with this?

What has my capacity at getting laid to do with this topic?

Anyway, i will not make any comment on the form, only on the substance.

On the contrary i want nothing more than this mod to succeed, but it won't happen if the community fragment in thousands of little walled gardens where everyone cook his little stuff.

You are welcome.

That's good, and i agree.

I'm not sure how much of a regular you are on a server or how much you play this game, but i can speak for the whole community when i say no one WANTS a 'Walled garden' That is BORING, it defeats the whole purpose, it is the reason why this is so popular in the first place.

The original point of this thread, and what i keep repeating my self is, i want to be able to continue to TEST the game - So it succeeds. I DO NOT want a kill log or any other admin tool suggested in the standalone version a year or more down the road when it comes out. It is NEEDED for the Alpha. NEED. NEED. NEED. Not a want, like 99% of the other suggestion threads.

The server owners still have to abide by the rules if any of this was implemented, no more "Admin Abuse" would occur than we currently have. This is a short term feature that NEEDS to be implemented so administration can counter things like mass killing, thunderdome, ect. UNTIL, AND ONLY UNTIL battleye does.

If you have not experienced any hackers or cheaters in the magnitude everyone has been saying, then you are not playing the same game the rest of us are...

Yeah, with all your worthless dribble, defending hackers, and trying to shame admins for admining their own servers, you guys are nothing more than trolls.

Discussing current rules and defending their reasoning has nothing to do with dribble, defending hackers or shaming anyone. I am pretty sure you only read a few posts before jumping into the fray. I wish I had a Willey Wonka photo to post to you saying "You must be new here."

Well you probably know my answer, but anyway. Being an admin is not something that is earned through merit, it's simply a matter of shelling out the money for it. It's not coming with integrity, especially today since servers are pretty cheap compared to a few decades ago.

Right, we can assume why, but we don't know for sure. I have actually seen very little reasoning for this through many of the Dev posts besides remarking. "We don't want you to be the judges and executioners." I feel like I am getting half the story and I can't help but wonder. I know there is a privilege to be had here and I am fine with that, but still even if you do something as a privilage you kinda deserve answers. I am sure even if they said "We don't trust you." many admins would stop being admins and ect, ect.

However, silence is also not a good thing when you have an outcry. Which I completely agree with there needs to be better defined does and don'ts. A lot of the consisting 'rules' are written by community members that were just stickyed.

I over heard a group of players who said they were Devs for The War Z and one of their main priorities is to sabotage DayZ, So they pretty much hire on people to hack servers and ruin the fun. so people will rage quit and buy this other game. NO WORD OF A LIE , I did not have Fraps running, but I can assure you there is people with hidden agendas out there. They could have be copy cats but its getting pretty lame that's for sure.

People don't just 'shell out' money without integrity. People pay their money to contribute a playable server, adding more to the community. If admins have no way of safeguarding their own servers, they are going to stop paying for their servers and the community are going to lose out on decent players, whilst the script kiddies move on to different servers like a cancer. I find if pretty ridiculous people are slandering off server owners, whom without, we'd be a very thin community jam packed on to a very limited amount of servers.

This issue must surely be on the highest priority level, it's tearing the community up much more than the whole OMG BANDITS problem, to the point you guys are turning on each other. That's why I'm so dumbfounded there is practically NO mention from the dev community or Rocket himself about this issue. Not sure why they aren't communicating to the community about this issue..

2cents out. :)

it's tearing the community up much more than the whole OMG BANDITS problem,

There is no bandit problem. Its apart of the game. That much I am willing to point out and say. Bandits will, and always will be, apart of DayZ. It wouldn't be a core part of the game and listed on the frontpage if this wasn't the case.

Sorry, didn't mean problem as in, bandits are a problem, rather, that it's something the community are arguing about, probably should have worded that better xD

Haha yes. I would say bandits are the core antagonists also. My Clan and I try really hard to be what we view as 'proper' bandits. However, this being a sandbox game you can only go so far with what you want to say what something is because its all just subjective to the players.

I think a lot of people were expecting another zombie game, and not expecting Bandits to be... I don't wanna say bandits because a lot of them AREN'T bandits. Assholes. Yeah, Lets go with that.

I hold my standards too high for fellow bandits. <_< Many people say my view is bias and I do agree with them. I am in that regard.

Definitely! I remember when I first started and I just kept getting shot at on the coast and thinking, OMG BANDITS ARE SUCH DICKS D:

But then, a week later, bandits are really fun to play against, and the ones who camp to shoot newbies aren't real bandits anyway, they're just assholes, and bad shots too xD

Just an update as to what BattleEye has done for me: I see hackers swimming across a map with other people swimming behind him. No Kick. I try to change the OPTIONS in my game, BattleEye thinks its suspicious and removes me from the game <_<

I could not agree more - this is precisely my point.

I WANT DAYZ TO SUCCEED. It can't succeed if server admins aren't on board.

Also, I agree with you about bandits - they're absolutely an integral and essential part of the game. It'd be pretty boring without them. They're not a "problem" like hackers are a problem.

To chip in.

Rocket said earlier today after being Thunderdomed during a interview, that was he going to seriously consider Private Servers and Private Hives.

So this hacker problem might suddenly plummet.

http://dayzmod.com/f...ew-with-rocket/

This means however, people would have to find servers with less admin abuse and playing like DayZ would. I know if the private server goes up, I will likely keep the Hive public and whitelist the server, this way I could monitor who comes in and out easier.

To put it in more personal terms, why should I, as a server admin, continue to pay money for a server that I cannot effectively control for a game that's currently at the mercy of hackers? Don't mistake me - I like the game a lot. My time and money are limited, though, and if I'm not thrilled about the state of affairs, how much more frustrated are normal players without even the illusion of power that I have as an admin?

If something isn't done about the hackers soon, whether it be by starting donations to pay somebody to come in and upgrade Dayz's anti hack/cheat software and stuff or SOMETHING to start preventing the cheaters by being proactive instead of banning them after they cheat and being reactive, you have just predicted how the game will come to a fiery chaos filled end. In the end though, if everyone stopped paying for servers, then im sure the hackers would buy their own to cheat on.

Hackers always hate admins. Rise up against the oppressors, at any cost (hacking). Down with abusive admins, lets all hack.

What hacking problem? There's a hacking problem? I just don't see it.

Wait, there's a hacking problem? Rocket gets publicly owned and humiliated and now it's a problem? Nice. Hey, whatever the reason, I welcome the change.

This thread comes to you from a long time player, and server admin.

It has gotten way past out of control, it really really needs to be the #1 priority now. Not Helicopters, Not content. Not weapon balance. Ect.

I understand DayZ is just a mod based around Arma II which uses BattlEye for it's anti-cheat. Regardless the hackers/scripters have more control of the game, my server, than i do. I have next to NO power to deal with them, and they know it. More and more are showing up. I can turn the server off and hope they get bored and bother some other server. Or start banning everyone i don't know on the server and get the server blacklisted.

It's bullshit. There needs to be more physical control of this situation before it kills the game off completely. It's headed in that direction. Even if it's temporary until Battleye catches up, something, ANYTHING, needs to be implemented.

Something like a killed by in a log would be glorious.

Edit: Further in the thread, found this.

http://forums.bistud...g-kill-messages

Dude the hacking is getting so bad they overload the server and are crashing the exe .. It is making the game unplayable .. Dayz need to step up and allow admins of THERE OWN SERVERS to admin there servers. Us the players are paying for the severs not Dayz. We are the ones loosing . Allow us to password our servers and block the hackers and scripters . We all know what the problem is .. This is not beta testing . This is just flat out wrecking the game. I understand testing and finding bugs. But when the server is down more then up from hackers then the testing stops and the game will die before it is started.
