Ciunay_Ragathol 1 Posted July 29, 2012 (edited) I sent a feedback about this, and Jens said he likes the idea, but has kindly asked to open a poll to gauge the community. In this game, as many games, you can play in solo or group, but it's clear you have more chance to survive as group, so, for fairness, why not adding in the leaderboard, a percentage of the time played in solo and group? To do this, i think is necessary adding a group system through the UI, but grouping with other players WILL NOT influence the gameplay by adding easy tools like radar to see your team mates or whatever. It would be just a system to show in the leaderboard, the time you have been grouped.I also tought would be nice adding a handshake emote to ask/accept a group, instead of the same horrible popup request you see in all games.Well, just vote. :) Edited July 29, 2012 by Ciunay_Ragathol
tommygun9504 8 Posted July 29, 2012 You get the beans :)What could be difficult is making Hive tell when player X is in a group with player A, B, and C.Maybe... if player X spends time within proximity and sight range of A, B and C without leaving, that counts as group time?Oh well, not my job to figure it out :P

Igor (DayZ) 96 Posted July 29, 2012 Sure but is it even possible. If you're 100 meters from another sniper or player in Elektro - it'd count as a group..? Unless people vote themselves, the statistics will never work.
Ciunay_Ragathol 1 Posted July 29, 2012 (edited) Why would anyone vote no?No idea... For fairness is good to know how much time you spent in solo and/or group imho. Probably they play just in group, and without this feature they seem strong as a player who survived the same time in solo.Just kidding. Would be nice a reply with the reason, from those players who voted no. Edited July 29, 2012 by Ciunay_Ragathol

If you're 100 meters from another sniper or player in Elektro - it'd count as a group..? Unless people vote themselves, the statistics will never work.Hello, I'm a student at Full Sail University, and I'm studying to be a game designer. I know that doesn't really much as of yet, but I do have a few suggestions. One of my assignments this week is to think of a game I have played or am currently playing and add or remove something to make the game better. Obviously since I'm intrigued by Day Z I decided to use this game, especially since its still in its alpha development phase. Here is my scientific method that could help answer your question.1. Why is there no squad or group creation game mechanic to help identify friendly or trusted players within a certain distance or visibility?2. The game already has so much working against each player. In real life we more or less know where our teammates or friends are due to directional awareness.3. If players were able to add friends or trusted players to a group, which would help identify them in game and distinguish them from other potentially harmful players, it would make the game more realistic since the majority of the avatars look the same. Adding a nametag marker or a directional indicator of the teammate approaching would be beneficial. Also if players breach the trust created by the group function by killing another group member, they are instantly given a “murderer/ bandit” status symbol or given a strike towards their record in the group. Also by creating groups, the game can track how many groups there are, how often people are operating within their groups, the average distance group members are from each other, how often people betray group members, how often and which groups fight with other groups the most.4. Testing? Truly the only way to test out my hypothesis is to get Dean Hall to implement this into the game. Currently I use a private group voice chat program during gameplay, and ask my teammates to identify their positions constantly and routinely avert my vision from the sector I’m watching just to make sure I’m still beside my teammate. Thats an unnecessary hassle that can be avoided by adding some sort of group radar or indicator only to know the position of group mates.Let me know what you think, re-iterate my idea, build upon it however you like. Personally I think recording that kind of information is an awesome idea and would be a great addition to the games experience.
