Fixing some stuff *low hanging fruit*

Things that need to be fixed, and it isn't even hard to do it:

- Makarov mags, grenades and such stuff look like bags/pouches, just change it to the correct model. Time needed: 5 min? I dont understand why this wasnt fixed already.

- Zombies spawning in your face and despawning after a second. Do the proximity check BEFORE spawning the zombie, not after. Duh! Also a 5 minute fix?

- Hatchets need to be "loaded" before first use... quick fix: spawn them already loaded.

- When eating a can of beans or drinking a can of soda, the can magically disappears! Thats stupid. When u drink a water bottle you get an empty bottle, do the same with food/soda.

- 2, 8 or 15 shotshells? They all look the same (but the model is with about 5 shells?!). New models pleeze! Just copy the model and edit.

- You shouldn't be able to recombine mags unless you actually have empty mags to fill!!!

Things that need to be fixed, but maybe these are a bit harder to do:

- When dropping a mag, it should drop EXACTLY the mag i selected, not just any mag of that type.

- It should be possible to recombine any mags with the same type of ammo, i.e. if i have M9 mags with 2, 1, 5 bullets then i should be able to use them to top up a G17 mag.

- Weapon malfunction. Should be able to take e.g. two bad AK74:s and combine into one working fine and one broken and unusable (or maybe it was so bad it just turns into scrap metal).

1. The mags dont exist in the game, would require some 3d modelling which is pretty pointless at alpha phase.

2. You haven't even coded yourself a basic hello world so how do you know it will take 5 mins? It will be fixed at some point, but it's not priority.

3. The melee doesn't exist in arma 2 so I think they did pretty great job doing it. So is it so hard to press r once?

4. Might be added game later, again not priority because pretty pointless, you can just drop the can out of your hands when you are done eating it.

5. They dont look the same, go get your eye's checked.

6. Again pretty pointless, you could just take the old ammo away from it.

7. The mailfunction would be great adding, but again not priority.

It totally destroys immersion, so it should be prioritized. Zombies flashing in, aggroing, and flashing out of existance is a serious bug.

Btw, I don't think you are quite familiar with my coding skills.

Yes, not much exists in the original game, but almost everything has been done in the mods.

No, it is not pointless. You can use the can to produce sound, or you can drop it and other players will be able to track you when the find an empty can of sardines.

What if you shaking and almost dead, eating your last can in a shed to gain some blood while zombies scream just outside... walking towards the door... if you get an empty can then u can throw it out and make them turn and walk away for a while so you get at chance to crawl out and away to safety (been there myself).

Not sure what you mean. Yeah, ok it's not 5 shells (i checked now) it's 8 shells, but the all look the same. The 2 shells for double barreled has a 8-shell model, the 15-shell for the 1866 also has the 8-shell model. Why should i get my eyes checked??!

I think you misunderstood what i wrote. If you have a revolver cylinder with 6 bullets in it, then how can you convert it for use in the M1911 without actually having an empty M1911 magazine to put the bullets in? It magically conjures a magazine from thin air and puts the bullets from the cylinder in it? First time i was like "oh this must be a bug, because i have no 1911 mag to top up".

Or is it just implicit that you are always carrying a large number of empty 1911 mags/DMR mags/revolver cylinders, ready for conversion???

The ammo system is quite confusing. Some weapons use multiple mags, e.g. the PDW can be loaded with PWD mags, MP5 mags, M9 mags, G17 mags... (any 9x19).

Others need recombination (revolver<->M1911, DoubleBarrel<->Remington/M1014, DMR<->M24). Why do you need to combine 2x4 slugs before you can load them in the M1014??

And some others can not use mags with same ammo, and the ammo can not be converted to another magazine (i.e. M248 to STANAG which would have been *sweeeeet*).

Clearly, the confusion is total. The ammo system needs a makeover.

Not sure where priorities are... now we are getting bear traps. And last time we got tank traps. Yay!

Should be done eventually. But low-hanging fruit? If third-party content has to be included I personally would not consider it a low-hanging fruit. Including third-party content most of the time is a copyright and licensing hell if you're not in BSD-license land.

I hate it as well and it should be fixed tonight if it is a low-hanging fruit. From my personal experience though I guess it's not really a valid assumption to assume it is actually at all possible to do proximity checks before spawning. I suppose there is a significant reason for doing it this way (most likely related to how the game spawns NPCs). If there's no serious reason, I absolutely agree with you.

Since other weapons are equipped loaded as well I do can not imagine why this should not pe possible. Agree.

If I am not completely wrong this was actually in the game at an earlier stage, but removed due to literally littering the servers (and this causing performance issues). I'd like this as well, but I wouldn't want to sacrifice significant performance specs for it.

Editing a model rolled out with the game might or might not be a low hanging fruit, depending on the skill set available in the developer crew as well as the license under which this content is provided.

You should not. However, since I believe empty mags currently simply disappear and thus mechanically wise do not exist at all, this most likely isn't a low-hanging fruit.

From his post, the phrases he uses and his conclusions I'd say he certainly coded more "basic hello world"s than you have.
