  1. 1. What should Rocket do about the Pistol damage nerfs in arma patch 1.62?

    • Leave them as is.
    • Revert back to old damage stats.
    • Increase damage vs. zombies only
    • Increase damage vs. Players only

For those who didn't catch the side arm changes:

  • Makarov: 889 damage, down from 2000
  • G17, M9, M9 SD, PDW, MP5A5, MP5SD6, Bizon PP-19 SD: 889 damage, down from 1389

Rocket did not lower the weapon damage. This happened because you installed the new arma2 beta patch.

Wasn't aware of this guys, thanks for the heads up. Will see what I can do. I'm reluctant to overwrite base ArmA2 classes because that is a lot of work maintaining it.

seems you could leave those be, and just up the damage by a multiple in DAYZ to get it back to where it was? i am probably incorrect.

That's what I am thinking. But I need to discuss it and make sure the approach is good. In all honesty, my damage/medical system needs a complete rewrite. It is one of the oldest and hackiest parts of the mod currently.

I say leave it because it's more realistic this way, after all it's extremely rare for one bullet to kill let alone stop someone.

I like the new damage tbh. I don't know why people whine so much, the m1911 is still better than the macaroni PM.

Fact is, it gives players time to respond. I've actually been killed VERY little by players in this game, by far the least of any other method, bugs being the most, yet, while it's realistic some might argue, balance is more important in a game, since, it's about zombies and far from realistic anyway. Running along the forest then suddenly dying isn't fun, nor is it skill in any sense of the word from the gunner (Well, unless it was a pistol shot from 1000m but then, that's luck).

I just think some of the other weapons need to fall in line.

I've been playing Dayz since it was first launched and I've been rarely killed by zombies since then. It only happened on 1 or 2 occasions, I am not kidding. Most of my deaths are from other players, glitches and bugs and re spawning.

45 caliber weapons are either way too effective against zombies or way too common in my opinion. All you need is a 45' side arm with a decent amount of mags for it and all of your zombie problems are solved.

I personally voted for increasing damage vs. Players only. Although I've never fired a gun in real life before or killed someone but I don't believe you'll need to shoot someone 12 or 13 times with a pistol in order they die.

Before 1.62 side arms were overpowered against zombies and balanced vs. players. Now they're balanced against zombies and useless against players.

Easiest Solution is to lower hitpoints for player and zombies.

Well then they'd have to fiddle with th blood loss rate, and other weapons, and zombie hit damage.
