If i join a non-hive server will i be banned because i joined one today and spawned in Cherno clueless as to what was really happening so i found a heli on the rooftop filled it up with gas and flew out. Now a bud of mine says ill be banned because i joined said server. I only joined because it was the easiest to connect to.

LONG STORY SHORT

Joined non-hive server clueless, told i might be banned for joining, needs to confirm if i will or not.

No, you will not be banned.....your characters progress will not follow over to the Hive connected ones though.
