Airsoft looks so funny to me.. I mean ... you dont see bullets and you dont see if someone got hit ... he must announce it freely ... how does this system work and why is it fun?

It's called telling the truth and not being a cunt.

It is a gentleman's game. This means that one must be honest when you participate. But there are also arrangers and inspectors to verify that the participants behave and follow the rules.

Being dishonest damage for everyone, but most of those who are cheating. Playing "airsoft" is much more than just "shoot everything that moves".

If I had the money I would make simution rounds or buy some, because I've had a chance to fire a gun using them once and it felt the same or close enough to notice no real difference from a real round being fire. Plus you know when you hit someone and you know very well when you get hit because its pretty much like getting hit with a high powered paint ball gun. Plus the sound I can imagine would make the whole thing feel more real, but of course you would need to safety check the hell out of everyone involved because some people are retards.

But as for this event looks neat, never done airsoft myself only paintball

Airsoft can be a ton of fun, but it all depends on the people you play with. I used to play nearly every weekend for several years, plus multiple regional and national events (such as Oklahoma Invasion, check it out if you are into Airsoft. Its a ton of fun, they use military vehicles as transports and even overflight runs by helicopters armed with airsoft LGMs). The sport depends on honesty 100%. Everyone is expected to call their hits and be aboveboard, as well as calling for safety skills when you get too up close and personal. 99% of the people I played with were honest, but as with any group you will have people who try to cheat. Those people don't last long and tend to get banned from any local fields or events run by or with local people.

That being said it can be an expensive hobby to get into, costing several hundred dollars worth of gear before you can even try it out (unless you are lucky enough to be able to get rentals or loaners from someone), and the temperment of the other players can ruin Airsoft also. The local group I always played with started getting overrun by a group of elitists pricks who changed the whole feeling of the game imo, and I havent been out to play in over a year because of it. Which is too bad because it really can be a TON of fun.

This is cool.

I prefer real guns or paintball myself, but it sure looks fun. When you get the whole thing ready please email me the link I will write about it on my blog.

I am a tiny bit jealous... Have some beans.

I'm too cynical ;( . Luckily, some people aren't and I'm sure they're having a great time! It's cool to see that this kind of thing goes on.

Damn that looks like fun! Wish we had events like that in Canada, but airsoft is so ridiculously expensive and heavily regulated here that almost no one plays :(

For the cost some of those guys paid you could probably get a nice used Glock.

That's just me though, more power to them. If airsoft was around when I was a kid I would have wet my pants. We just had bb and pellet guns, and yes we shot each other. During summer we would wear our winter clothing jacket, hat, snowboarding goggles. Then the rule was you could only pump the gun ONCE. haha yeah right, fools were blasting each other.

This is very amusing, but i don't find airsoft realistic the noise of the guns are so quiet they sound like nothing and the hit you can hardly see.

Some airsoft guns (once you factor in the various upgrades) cost more than a real gun would even new. I was always told that you shouldn't even bother picking up a sniper type weapon for airsoft unless you are willing to spend in the thousands of dollars to upgrade it.

As for realism.... it's a fake gun. Of course it's not going to hit like or sound like a real gun. The point is to go out and have fun and shoot your friends "without the added complications of death, dismemberment, and formal criminal charges". If you want realism join the armed forces, it's really your only option.

Who in the world would actually want to play a zombie. I mean i hope there is at least an fps limit. But if there is then do snipers have a different limit????

Things like this make me hate Australia, Illegal to own, sell or use Airsoft Guns.

Paintball is great and all but watching one vs the other, the locations and maps/courses for Airsoft are much more diverse than what Paintball has, least in my experience going to different places. The variety in the guns helps to for me.

All the power to the those guys that do the event, looks like a lot of fun.

Every legit field has FPS limits and weapon specific rules. The standard for Oklahoma are:

-Standard Guns must be under 400fps using .20 gram plastic bbs.

No shots may be fired within a 20 foot safety distance except pistols (that register under 350 fps), safety kills must be used instead

-Support Weapons have a 450fps limit, and a minimum engagement distance of 40 feet. These must be weapons that are specifically support weapons (rpk, m60, m249 ect. You can not take a M4 that is 450fps and call it a support weapon).

-Sniper weapons must register under 550fps and may only use simi-auto fire (can not have the ability to use full auto or burst fire at all), and has a minimum engagement distance of 100ft. You must carry a backup standard weapon or pistol for engagments under 100 feet range.

Airsoft tends to be played outdoors in the woods as opposed to on pre-built courses. Though I have run in several airsoft ops that used a local military MOUT facilities. This makes it much more fun IMO than what you see on paintball courses.

until you shoot off 200 rounds full auto at 400+fps and 10-20 rounds a second, you wont know, also, when those 20-100's of rounds hit their target it usually welps in pain and fear and begging to not be shot anymore. Usually works pretty well. If they really are a douch and dont call the many hits that happen to them, then you just move closer so it hurts just a little more.

Yea ive done this also. Normally you fire in just short bursts, but when you know you hit them and they dont call it I open up on them and start arcing the bbs to their face. This works nicely.
