Q) do poor graphics settings made DayZ animals invisible?

i've been around 6k blood for the last 6-8 hours of gameplay. so i have been going from farm to farm for the past couple of days, solely. but there are no piggies, no sheeps, and not even bunnies. :(

my graphics settings are at my monitors default res of 1680 x 1050. all settings are on low, so i can play on my 2-3 year old hardware.

but i'm not seeing anything. once i clear a farm, i carefully scan the terrain, and even binoculars to try to spot some animal. but nothing.
