deadman_with_hat 5 Posted July 28, 2012 Well the cha´s are NOT running over steam...so... what i gues is that ther are running over the IPyou and youre brother, are useing the same Internet IPORyou are using the same KEY from the ARMA II CO
bradley1508 0 Posted July 28, 2012 is there a way to change so we dont have the same KEY or is it not fixable?
deadman_with_hat 5 Posted July 28, 2012 (edited) KEY... Fixable?if you have bouth ARMA II once, then you have one KEY.so... you can only have one cha. (no this is not fixable i gues)same: if you are buying on WOW acc only one of you can playsame: with every gameBUT if you have bouth 2 ARMA II AND you have the same problem, then this might be the IPOR somthing else... i gues.. Nekosan 20 Posted July 28, 2012 we both have bought arma II on different steam acc's and if it is run off the ip address then i geuss i just wasted money on buying this gameIt's not run off the IP, it's run off the keys. It sounds like you had the same copy installed on both pc's then uninstalled and installed the second copy, your registry still has the old key in it. bradley1508 0 Posted July 28, 2012 i have uninstalled it and installed it twice now idk y but every time i install it gives me the same keys as last time
@ndreas 15 Posted July 28, 2012 ... apparently because most programs don't do a really clean uninstall. Maybe some registry entries with the key are still present. Two solutions I can think of:#1: if one of you has a system reset point (set in Windows) from before your FIRST installation, use it to reset one of your laptops.CAUTION: you will also loose any other alteration to your system you made after the chosen reset point.#2: uninstall the game and then start a tool like RegClean to fix remaining registry entries. In both ways, after that you have to install the game anew, be sure to use the other copy (not the copy one of you already uses on his laptop). If you want to make completely sure, use step #1 or #2 on BOTH machines.I would think that could fix it. HarrowerX 0 Posted July 28, 2012 I have bought three copies of the game and don't have a problem. I installed twice on my computer and the third on my wifes. We are able to play together with no problems and when she is not playing I can switch to my other character. Try this.On your computer log in to your steam account.Right click Arma IISelect 'Launch Arma II Combined Operations' You should briefly see a DOS window pop up. This is where steam is inputting the correct CD key in the registry.Let game load then exit.Launch DayZ the way you usually do.Have your brother log into his computer and his steam account and follow the same steps. You should each have the correct CD key now.
