Negative Mouse Acceleration.

So last night a friend of mine decided to buy arma 2 in order to play dayz, but when he entered the game he had a serious issue with his mouse which he explained to be something like negative mouse acceleration as shown in this video:

We've searched around the net for the past 6 hours or so and haven't been able to find any working solution for this.

Some people said that lowering "mouse smoothing" would change this, but it didn't in my friends case. We've also tried editing the ArmA2:OA.cgf file where we changed the line "GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1000;" to "GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1" as another person suggested, but no luck there either.

Now im hoping some of you have a solution to this issue since it makes the game unplayable for him atm.

Some added info i think might help is that he is using a "microsoft intellimouse explorer 3.0", and that we're 5 mates playing together and he's the only one experiencing this.

Found a bug report on dev heaven relating to this problem which you could keep track of. I recall people having this problem in ArmA 1 so it is an engine bug

Have you tried zeroing the X and Y axes and mouse smoothing, then boosting dpi on mouse?

You could potentially try uninstalling, updating or reinstalling drivers for the mouse and running the game in compatability mode

Yeah that thread on dev-heaven helped us alot in understanding what the problem was to begin with, but unfortunately he never reached a solution despite his amazing work in describing the issue.

We've played around with the X and Y axes and mouse smoothing and found that it helps a bit, but its still different from the experience the rest of us have.

When you say "run the game in compatability mode" what exactly do you mean ? the only way i know off is running it in compatability mode for old windows versions.

I just put my mate on reinstalling his drivers, will report back when he's done.

If he's on Windows 7, try running it through compatability for vista or XP. Is he running the game as administrator?

With regard to changing your 'MaxFramesAhead' setting to 1, have you made sure it is not resetting every time you open the game? Sometimes the config will reset some changed settings when you open the game so you may need to change the file to read-only.

You cannot disable the mouse acceleration in ArmA 2, you can "counter" it a little with some of the settings. But theres no getting rid of it unfortunatly.

By "GPU_MaxFramesAhead=;" they just mean "your number" simply edit your 1000 to 1.

The weird part is that it seems worse on his computer than it does on mine and the 3 others, that made us think it might be a problem that could be fixed, but we're beginning to think it might be either his configuration or his own perception of how its supposed to work that's doing this.

would be acceptable, as it limits unrealistically high turn speeds.

But there is no freaking reason for this shit:
