so i went into building and found a winchester with 30 rounds, i already had a enfield with 100 rounds so it didnt really appeal to me(havent found alot of ammo for it in general unlike the enfield wich seems to be comparable to trash items in quantity), so i climbed up on a rooftop and took a look around and noticed 2 zombies just loitering near entrance to the supermarket i had planned to raid, i went back down and grabbed the winchester(cause its less noisy and better suited for places with lots of zombies right?) went up on the roof again and picked them both off, but then i noticed zombies over 200m away starting to run and im thinking, crap another player(im usually the one getting killed in pvp situations so i wasnt too happy about it), but i dont see any survivors, i just see zombie after zombie after zombie way out there running like mad.. in my direction!?, the aftermath was around 50 zombies stinking up the place and the vicinity was zombie free for about 10 seconds. now just 5min earlier i fired off the enfield on one zombie that spotted me and even though there were atleast a dozen that i could see within the specified sound range, 2 only a couple of meters away from the zombie i shot noone reacted to it at all.

is this related to latest game/mod patches?

Jesus dude I was stuck in a building for like twenty minutes like I mentioned in some thread already. They just kept coming and coming, I had to put nearly 200 rounds of shots on all the zombies, I paniced.
