Not seeing @dayz on side of screen

Okay, after watching enough youtube on this mod, I bought the game and I am R E A D Y to play, but I keep running into problems

I keep launching the game but I'm not seeing @dayz in the top right of the screen like everyone said I should. From what I gathered from the instructions you need to make a @dayz folder in the game directory and then Addons inside of that.

am I missing any files that aren't in the mod files available for download on the home page?

Are you using a launcher to load the mod and boot the game?

Also, I'm curious... why is the mod folder in your Battlefield 3 directory?

You can wish all you want, BF3 aint going to be as good as Arma :P

You should be able to start your game after you read these posts.
