Weapons can slow you down...

Recommended Posts

This is very, very, very simple... Weapons can slow you down.

It annoys me when you can just run around with a big ass M107 or AS50 like it's some nerf gun.

The AS50's weight is 27 pounds without a scope and magazine, so even without the large scope and big magazine, this is a bitch to carry around.

The M107 weighs

30.9 pounds without a scope and magazine, also making it even more of a bitch to carry, you'd easily get fatigued running around with this equipped.

The M249 SAW weighs 14 pounds without a magazine and sight, making it rather heavy.

The MK48 is 18.26 pounds without a magazine and sight, again, making it heavy.

Finally, the M240 is a whopping

27.6 pounds... I mean, how can you run several kilometers with this and not keel over?

It may be tricky to script this kind of mechanic into the mod, but it would add a bit more balance to these weapons.

They'd also have to slow zombies down too, to be at most the speed of someone running with the heaviest gun.

I'm not sure that I agree with this...

I know the fact you can run several kilometers with all that weight is extremly unrealistic, maybe you would just have to rest for a while? Or have to walk?

Not sure. But yeah unrealistic.

Don't Agree.

Everyday, people on Day-Z carry tons of supplies in their inventory, which in this case wouldn't make sense if the gun slowed down movement. It would have sense if like, the more items you have in your inventory, it slows you down by small increments. So let's say you have your inventory maxed out, no more space for items, then your character would move pretty slowly. As to where the guy with the small ass pistol is moving like a demigod. And fining a bigger pack, can make inprovements in speed, and carrying capacity.

But honestly, Disagree. Would rather prefer the movement currently. Nothing's wrong with it. It's how I manage to getaway from zeds.

Well, if you run for, oh say 200m. your character is slightly slower, and if you have a sniper your aim through the scope is botched by heavy breathing (assault rifles have it but is very minor).

Running already impacts your character, but adding 'weight' to slow your characters can botch some parts of the game, like running from zombies. If you are slow enough to where a zombie can hit you after they stop, then they have a chance to break your legs, which leaves a chance for your to get mauled, which leaves a chance to your impending doom.

Honestly, I like running form 12 zombies, none of them catching me, and losing all of them between 2 bushes.

I think it should be in the middle. Have a tiny/no gun? Run faster than the zombies! Have a GIANT beast of a weapon? You're slower than them and they can get you. It would add balance and a true negative side to the giant powerful weapons.

They'd have to slow the zombies down a little bit then and it'll be much harder but i support 100% fully with this idea.

Back to the roots: Counter Strike!

Of course you run faster with a handgun in your hand than with a big rifle (ironie off).

But at some degree it is even true ._.

I could run faster with a rifle on my back than in my hands.

This isn't just about zombies, I'm also talking about combat...

People with LMG's can easily run up to you and buttrape you.

People with giant sniper rifles can relocate extremely fast.

The zombie problem... Shoot them. You have a huge military-grade firearm, mow them down. Unless you're too scared of attracting players and other zombies.

This would add a bit more balance to PvP.
