Keeping a server daytime?

Recommended Posts

So the company im renting a server from (HFB) says the only way to keep the server day time is to edit the mission file?

Now i might be wrong but im pretty sure i been on a server before where i played all day where it has been light, or maybe when they restarted the server the tiem reset somehow?

Anyone have any information on this?

You cannot keep your server always on day. It needs to stick to one timezone. It makes it equal like every other server with a day/night cycle.

Dem rules. Don't break em.

It requires modifying the mission file. Which is not allowed.

The loot spawns are tied to the server time, so locking a certain time of day breaks quite a few things with regard to spawning. This system may be changed at some point in the future but for now, that's how the code is built.

well you could do it manually without modifying anything cept for the time zone changer on your server config if you have one.

just take down the server, change the time setting and save, fire the server back up. takes less than one minute, but you have to know which timezone in the world is currently night.

Did some test on my server, around 9 pm EST my time, i set the server to UTC -6 it's like 10 am ~12 pm in game. you can mess with the time zone change to adjust for the daytime

I think you may be misunderstanding what the OP is hoping to do ( or I am misundersting what you suggest). He seems to want to introduce permanent daylight on the server by locking down the time. This will break the loot spawns as each time the loot script checks against server time it will be given a return of "not enough time has passed, don't respawn loot". Sure, you can change the server time, but you cannot lock it down. In order for the spawn system to work properly, time of day cannot be static.

Aren't ppl already getting away with always daytime? I've been playing for the last 4 days and have only ran into one server @ nighttime. Even when I pick timezones that should be night they're day & I've checked out same servers both night and day my time. I'm guessing everytime ppl take a server down for maintance they reset the clock back to the server start time.

I don't see the spot to set the timezone in my config.cfg - what is the setting?

Thanks!

Timezone of the computer that runs the DayZ server. The game time is the same as the time on the machine when the game loads.

Ah - so you can't set the server to have a different time/timezone from the box it's running on? Thought that'd be a config setting somewhere...

I started my server for the first time last nite and I set the Server W2k8 to GMT+11 from 9pm EST. I have shut down the server reset the clock back to EST 8am and rebooted and the server still shows GMT+11. I want it to stay on on GMT -5 (EST) but I can't now? This changing the Server Clock it malarkey! How do you reset the Game to start all over?

**Update**: We Use BLISS setup, so this is what we had to do add to the Hiveext.ini file

[Date]

;Possible valuse: Local, Static

Type=Static

;if using Static type, the year/month/date to set the date to Full Moon use 7/3/12

Year = 2012

Month = 7

Date = 3

[Database]

;Possible values: local, Custom, static

Type = Custom

;If using Custom type, offset from UTC in hours (can be negative as well)

Offset = -10

;If using Static type (Hour valuse always the same on every server start), the value (0-24) to set the Hour to)

;Hour = x
