Redshift 58 Posted July 28, 2012 Ok so it is getting pretty annoying coming across a bunch of servers that are locked or passworded. It is clearly against the rules, and clearly a server admin who is just farming loot (especially when you see them locked with only 1 person in it). So what about we all compile a list of every locked server that we come across as a reference list for the devs to then shut them down?US #500 Multiplay :: Training Grounds (Locked)US 1447 Hosted by Utah Warriors (password)US 309 Hosted by Inversion (password)GB #500 Multiplay Nemesis Rising (password)DE567 MeLLer Berge (password)US1101 Fear Gaming | Vilayer.com (admin TibzFox continuously kicked for no reason even with ping under 50)
SystemiK 366 Posted July 28, 2012 I'm gonna go ahead and say that if the dev team wanted something done about this then they would have already done something. I understand that the rules state no locked servers, but until there are some kind of repercussions coming down, you just need to deal with it. The dev's are the only people who can address this and for what ever reasons, they are choosing not to. It's their problem, I suggest chill out and wait for them to take action. Until then, it is what it is.
Redshift 58 Posted July 28, 2012 (edited) *shrug* Then they can ignore the thread and not be hurt by it if they want to. Worst case scenario I (and anyone else who wants to add to the list) get an illusory feeling of doing something to help make the game better. Best case scenario they pay attention to the thread and it makes their jobs a bit easier, and the game gets better with our help. Either way the only people who possibly can be hurt by it are the people who are cheating by locking their servers. As for "they would have already done something about it" I have read multiple threads where they do in fact ban servers for these types of infractions. So until I am told otherwise by the Devs I choose to proceed under the assumption that they are continuing to do something about the problem and may welcome support and help in that effort. SKYLN 12 Posted July 28, 2012 Occationally server owners do lock their servers but its for a good reason, if there are update issues and the server is being restarted constantly, I would rather not be able to join then join and get disconnected. But yes, on occasion some server owners will lock to get loot. The good part is that when the server has only a few players in it, no decent loot spawns. SystemiK 366 Posted July 28, 2012 (edited) That's all well and good. Knock yourself out and by all means do enjoy your "illusory feeling" of contribution. I guess I'm just more of a realist when it comes to situations like this.Take the highly fractured server base we now have. I count 17 versions of beta and 14 versions of DayZ code currently up and running. It would definitely be in the best interest of this alpha test for the devs to limit those down to the two or three latest versions of each and restrict all others, but again, they (for whatever reasons) have shown no interest in doing so. Again, it is what it is, and we really have no choice in the matter other than to deal with it. That's all I was trying to suggest.
